If the ranks and awards were that difficult to get, they'd have no meaning for casual players (like myself).

It's satisfying to every now and then get told you've earned a new badge, or ribbon, or even rank.  If everything beyond basic badges had requirements of 100+ hours, those of us who don't play all that intensively would never see them.  It's taken me nearly a year of play to clock up 366 hours total.  My highest kit time is Engineer with 63, so it's conceivable I'll get to Expert Engineer sometime, but it's going to take months.

Similarly, after 11 months or so, I'm on the final leg of First Sergeant, so those last unlocks are getting closer.  It'll be nice to finally get regular access to those last weapons.

I was just playing with one of my clan mates, and what do you know, he got three,  THREE awards in one round...

I admit that the hours were demanding, but now they are just too easy to get.  I was just about to grab the veteran Engineering award before the patch came out.  The day it came out I had expert Engineering & repair,  with 100 hours extra....   Now the way I see it, I could have put those extra 100 hours into any other kit and have about 2-3 more expert combats by now.

Actually, I think 100 hours is quite a lot an therefore the expert is quite appropriate.
