Okey, so now I've updated my BIOS since the hardware monitor always told my AC Freezer7Pro to run at rather high speeds and also measured wrong rotation speeds.
My CPU was cooled down to 45°C under heavy load (which is neat for a P4, I guess) and 38°C. Now, however, I stressed it up to 57°C with the cooler still not thinking about working a little more.
So there's my problem:

I know the CPU has been running at 63°C with the boxed cooler and BF2 and I know that it took a very long time to go up to 57°...

PS: First time I rebooted with the new BIOS the hardware monitor thought the CPU had 127°C (which is a little too much, rather were it °F) and let the fan on the heatsink go full-speed.

now i have the same fan type but mine is the 64 pro its the same fan, but for differant sockets

im not shure how (maybe its coz your processor) but i only find me being @ the 22 degrees mark @ idle and nothing over 40 @ load

but to answer your question i think its to tollerant yes

what are you looking @ it through?

try downloading asus pc probe II see what that tells you

you can also configure the fan through that

Automatic fan speed controls are too much bother, I always run my fans(CPU & GPU) at 100% so everything stays as cool as possible.

The problem is, I'm allergic to noise

Edit: Have been playing BF2 a little now and it never went over 53°C which makes me happy. Plus, it's super silent, yay ^^

I'm usually wearing headphones or have my speakers cranked so I don't notice fan noise, and my AC Freezer 64 is a mere whisper compared to my old Volcano 12.

It's not turning on because it isn't necessary. I'm pretty sure I'm right in saying AMD 64 goes to about 70 and P4 about 80 as absolute maximums, like would definitely get cooling to bring it down to at least 60 and 70 respectively but the proc probably wouldn't burn out.
