Anyone with a brain the size of a pea will know when something is an accident, and won't punish for it. However, there are people that will TK to get vehicles, or even the weapon that some has (e.g. unlocked weapons).

who cares if you punish? Do you play this game on servers or in single player? 3 punishes = kick and its a pain in the ass to find a new server when youve been playing one for a while and a full apc of friendlies runs over your at mines.

In my whole playing time this happened to me like 4 or 5 times. It's not that hard to avoid TKs if you pay attention.

yesterday i got punished for making kills. just so stupid it said
FDCP_ELMO [L85A1] retard-ass
and then I saw in white letters: you have been punished for a teamkill.

i was like WTF that is impossible i am sure he had the red tag and i got points for the kill but then he punished and i lost them.
first i thought it was the red tag bug but I was sure i was Spetz and he was a SAS even the uniform was correct and he also fired at me.
WTF!

and about this idea if you add prizes for not punishing WHY SHOULD THEY ADD PUNISHING TO THE GAME? it makes no sense

Me and (something )monkey where Ruling a Map he was the best team player I ever played with. Repairing Backing me up We were leaders in the game by like double. Out tank blew with a Tow hit took some players with splash damage and we both were kicked.

No no no. All the ribbons/medals/badges in BF2 are military only, and not really about gameplay. Okay, a few of them have the criteria that you have to achieve 'no team damage in a round,' but that's for something like good conduct or whatever, and relies more on other criteria. Having something that relates to wether you press page down or not kind of takes away from the 'military' like qualities of the awards.
I mean, what would the picture be on the ribbon? A finger pressing Page Up?

Also

- You would have to rely on people teamkilling you to get an award. I mean, what the fuck? Why should you get an award if someone teamkills you? It's just... not right is it?

- After the award is given, people would continue punishing if they believe it's right, (e.g: I'm pissed off that I ran over your mine, so I will punish you.)

I mentioned it for situations like:

Mines, claymores - the obvious its their fault senario (I never punish for unintentional TK's especially when its my own fault)

when you are a pilot and someone on the ground does a 'tank spotted APC spotted Troops spotted' you fly over and bomb them but someone (probably the bloke who spotted) just happened to be killed by your bomb and even though you got rid of the enemy vehicles and cleared his flag he punishes.

Stray AA - come on we all know how shite it is

the majority of players are just too quick to punish, you dont even get chance to say sorry, they just 'page down' the moment they die.
doesnt even have to be an award, how about adding a teamwork point for a forgive?

Maybe they didnt think about friendly mine/claymore detector n00b factor at the begining.

Although ribbon not gonna work after they took it n00bz will continue to punish.

Punish for TK'ing when the other person is at fault is dumb. The other person knows it was his fault but he will punish anyway.

It has happened to me where I had killed a team m8 purely by accident and have apologized for it and there has been times where mentioned above ,the team m8 has clearly a red tag over his head. Not sure if it is a glitch in the game where sometimes your team m8 has a red tag but it should be looked in to.

it's called the red name glitch man. get used to it. EA isnt fixing it anytime soon and you should be able to tell its a friendly by the fact thy don't look chinese, and when you shoot them it says team damage and they turn around and kill you.

If you shoot someone and say sorry these days, even spamming the console with sorry till you get blocked for 30 odd seconds still doesnt seem to work these days. People will still auto punish and crack it with you

We can all safely agree someone who auto punishes is a n00b. No two ways about it. If someone says sorry, forgive. If its blatantly obvious and intentional tk, punish. If they do tk u, wait to see if they say sorry people. don't just hit pg dwn.

In my case I look over the situation on how or why I was team killed.
If I run into an on coming tank or happen to encounter a snipers claymore , I will never punish for something I think I may have down wrong or for something I think a team m8 did by mistake.
I will however puinish for stupidity such as, a friendly looks at me a pulls the trigger point blank unless I have surprized him while he is defending a flag close in(easy to figure out). I will also punish for TK'ers who kill just to get a jet , tank or anything else that he wants before you get it.

Puniching is a good tool to get rid of the rift raft but , it must be used in a smart way and not used to get back at someone for something you have done wrong.

As for friendly having red tags , I have also seen some players that have had the enemy tag on and also seem to be wearring the opposite uniform also, or actually being the enemy with the propper tag on that appear to be wearing friendly uniforms. Not sure if anyone else has expperianced the same problem but its starnge at times.

Correct.
They should just take off that damn Pg Up/Pg Dwn vote (and mutiny for that matter), because we all know what button will be pushed 9 times out of 10. That's why I Opt Out of Vote. I think if an enemy was within a certain range then a must forgive, but if no enemy is around they should get kicked and -10 off thier global. ( I know I mistakenly was pushing 'Q' the 'spot enemy' and pushed the shoot button and killed teammate when no one was around, but that's extremely rare.)
