Well, this is a review for the Zalman 9700 in my friends computer (E6600, eVGA 7900GTO, 2GB OCZ Platinum RAM, etc, etc). Well, he got a new heatsink ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6835118019 ) and it cools like a biznitch . So I told him to get his FSB to 1337, lol, and he did and amazingly... 28 degrees Celsius!! It was quite 1337. My e6400 idles at 34 barely OC'd to 2.4 . So i might get me a Zalman 9700.

Here is the screen.

This heatsink is amazing, I used it all Winter Break and the OC'd E6600 ( 3.0GHz ) NEVER got above 30 degrees Celsius.

Overall, 9/10
It was great, but the installation was a pain. in. the. ass. It really needs a better mounting system, I cant count how many times I lost a screw whilst installing it.

Installation, 7/10
Like I said above, it was ghey. Lost screws, etc, etc, etc.

Performance, 10/10
28 degrees idle on an E6600 with an OC of 3.0GHz. Whats not to like?

Price, 8/10
60$ isnt too bad, but I dont have it. Its chump change to most people, but not me. Either way, its great for the price.

Get one. Or find a better one, though i doubt u can.

Man.....everyday I get closer & closer to going back to air cooling
I only see 28C first thing in the morning (after the computer has been idiling for 3 or 4 hours straight) & I even put ice cubes in my reservoir sometimes too...

*Edit:* right now it's at 34C just running firefox

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!! ALIENWARE AND DELL SUCK ASS!!!!!

If your going to get a pc go with Cyberpower. They are the cheapest (I shopped around for days and no body beat then) as my new $1400 pc from them would have cost me over $2100 with dell/alienware

Yeah, and the screws are so small and the mount is under 110 MM OF COPPER HEATSINK!!!!!! You can only install it if you have small hands, I couldnt do it myself. I had to use a magnetic screwdriver. lol

Thats what I put in the c2d system I built, (the fan is 110mm the whole thing is more like 120 ) got his e6600 stable around the 3.7Ghz mark, thats in an Antec Nine Hundred case with the huge 200mm vent fan sat right on top of it and a 120mm exhaust fan dragging air out the back too. Brilliantly designed though, fits in anywhere despite being gargantuan, its a lot easier to install if you do it with the mobo out of the case as it does get a little cramped lol.

Zalman's are always good, who doesn't love a huge copper flower in their computer?

Might I suggest getting either A) A better radiator, or B) More airflow to your radiator?
Water cooling is much better than air cooling, but is also harder to do. If you are getting bad temps from water, you aren't doing it right.

Lol at magnetic screwdriver, you have to watch out when using them inside your computer actually.

But love the temps! those in my rig, which is making the sounds of a carrier-machine-room when you first start it, doesn't get such nice results.

hmm, mine runs at about 35°. 120mm fan over the HDs though. also the 150 gigs i installed never run over 40°. either he has the worst airflow in history or its a glitch

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
