Stud's commentary helps my opinion quite a bit since I didn't know many details about the suits - at least you do have something significant to work with there. Of course I knew that some things can be done well as Sniper as most humans can solve even very difficult puzzles with ideas, time and some skill.

I do agree that vegetation and especially shadows can use some more cpu. But even in the short time I've played I've seen too many nooks and crannies on the ground that could be used with good effect by the Sniper, but were made unaccessible by the game. A sniper relies on cover - the more choices in positions, the better. As for camping, well, that is the Sniper's job! And no matter how many nooks and crannies there are for the Sniper (or any other class) to hide in, the soldier will always be found, eventually, especially if they are causing a great deal of damage to the opposing team. That is just how I see it; I'm certainly no pro at this game.

Even with all that my greatest concern was with the starting weapons. But since I've been looking into this it appears to me that there are hitbox problems in the game, which could be more than significant. There are so many reports of Sniper rifle bullets and knives (and possibly other weapons?) not hitting their mark when they should have. If hitboxes are offset, this can also result in team kills and damage.

So far I feel quite a bit of empathy for the Sniper and for the Engineer, who seem to have some coding rules that curse them as a class, at least in the beginning.

I'd be happy with just having the red name tag not appearing if you're completely motionless.

Yes they do. Today, I was playing, and had some teammates who had the red name tag, and had their skin as the opposing army. [i.e. I was MEC, and two of my teammates were USMC]

As for the snipers, I like the idea proposed, but I'd prefer more range and better scopes. It's a pain in the ass trying to his something from 200m - 250m+ with the sniper rifles in the game for me.

i think if these things were to be put in the game, then only a limited number of snipers should be allowed on the team. if a sniper is completely invisible to troops and the commander and everyone wants to be sniper it would a . be boring and b. suck for people who dont want to be snipers. also another reason i think sniper numbers should be limited is that nothing pisses me off more when uve got 1 flag and 2 or 3 snipers not helping and just shooting people off a carrier or sum other spawn point. its useless.

I was playng on mashtuur city and I was sniper. Instead of hiding in the obvious water tower i decided to hide in the bushes that are nearby. The point of this was that i went 28 and 0 for that round because
A. They could never see me
B. The Mec would always run right at me across the ditch and never know where i was
C. I was in the "zone"
yeah, it is fairly easy to disappear in this game if you dont move...most people dont notice things unless they move, or if they are looking really hard, much the same way you can go prone and lay down next to the road and a tank driver will pass you by and not know, because all the green stuff on the HUD gets in the way, and you generally dont notice people if you are thinking about where you are driving to and what you are going to do if you get there...try ducking down in grass or sitting next to something dark and closed in, people wont notice you except for the muzzle flash, but if you are good that will be the last thing they see...
i think almost the same as you mate, but you dont need to be good to hide the muzzle flash. you just have to examing the surrounding area and if you find that nobody is looking at your direcction then u take the shoot.
i know that this maybe requires some practice to do this fast but usually it works

ITs a great idea but i see a downside to this

mostly when a team loses all his Flags ... most of the time Snipers are left and they aint moving a lot.
so in case of a rush round....with 130 tickets left...with no vote kick option its going to be a loooong round

or the commander must be lucky and place the UAV at the right spot

welll nice idea ...

mine was snipers need spotters so they wont be lone wolfs IAR ... 2man sniper teams ...dont see that often in BF2 !! and the spotter would be giving info to the commander etc etc .

bla bla bla ... i play tooo much !!!

i think alot of improving the gameplay for sniper/spec ops kitt ... good thinking there about melting in dude ...
Sniper needs some more gratitude !

making a ghillie suit myself ... just finished the stalk suit ... only need materials for my prone suit

Yeah

I once used Axe Deoderant before going out and sprained my foot going down stairs, I ended up with a 34-4 K/D ratio using an M95.

15-10 using regular deoderant
