yes tbh it seems that way sometimes, thats why i go spec ops in tank and load the front with c4 and get dead close when fighting mec tank...then at least if i die...so does he

i do sometimes get called a c4 noob, wnker etc,but if im dieing...so is that mec c.nt and it helps me explosives tally

You do realize that certain areas of the tank have less hit points. You're probably running into someone who knows where to aim.

Kinda seems to me like the M1A (USMC) is a piece of junk.  You go over a six inch bump and lose a hit point.  If you have to travell some distance across uneven terrain, by the time you have to engage a MEC tank, you're already down like 4 or 5 hit points.  I prefer the MEC tank cuz I don't have to go 1 MPH to keep it from getting damaged before the fight.

They made the game almost to realistic as they could.  Meaning the Bottom of the Tank is very vunerable and the back.  Between the Turret and the body is a good place to hit.  Just the the tank in the Treads and it starts to get hurt really bad also.  There are sweet spots on the tank that if you hit just right then it will go down faster.

Hope that Helps.

I do realize that some parts of the Tank are weaker, like the sides, the back, the bottom, yea, yea, yea, I try but the MEC tank is always one stp Ahead it seems.

The M1 Abrams tank owns the mec and china tanks (shoots faster, just a little though, and its gun does more damage). You are just getting killed by people that are actually aiming and not just shooting

Each tank has it's strengths and weaknesses.
The M1A2 Has weak armor, but it's faster and it can aim higher.
The T-90 has can't aim nearly as high and it's a little slower, but it has strong armor.
I don't know much about the Chinese tank.

I think all the Tank's cannons are the same strength.

If you read this websites info or anothers about the tank's, you'll find that if you use the MEC tank and fire at the Abram's (fatter tank) like...um...how should i explain...the wheels or the whatever they are, it will drain quicker.

also the MEC tank is shorter than the m1...The m1 is a lot bigger target so therefore much simpler to hit...

Lets put some stats down.

US M1A2-SEP Abrams Main Battle Tank

M1 ABRAMS ARMAMENT

The main armament is the 120mm M256 smoothbore gun, developed by Rheinmetall GmbH of Germany. The 120mm gun fires the following ammunition: the M865 TPCSDS-T and M831 TP-T training rounds, the M8300 HEAT-MP-T and the M829 APFSDS-T which includes a depleted uranium penetrator. Textron Systems provides the Cadillac Gage gun turret drive stabilisation system.

The commander has a 12.7mm Browning M2 machine gun and the loader has a 7.62mm M240 machine gun. A 7.62mm M240 machine gun is also mounted coaxially on the right hand side of the main armament.
DEPLETED URANIUM ARMOUR

The M1A1 tank incorporates steel encased depleted uranium armour. Armour bulkheads separate the crew compartment from the fuel tanks. The top panels of the tank are designed to blow outwards in the event of penetration by a HEAT projectile. The tank is protected against nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) warfare.

One L8A1 six-barrelled smoke grenade discharger is fitted on each side of the turret. A smoke screen can also be laid by an engine operated system.

Russian T Series T-90S

ARMAMENT

The T-90S armament includes one 125mm 2A46M smoothbore gun, stabilised in two axes and fitted with a thermal sleeve. The gun tube can be replaced without dismantling inside the turret. The gun can fire a variety of ammunition including APDS (Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot), HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank), HE-FRAG (High Explosive Fragmentation) as well as shrapnel projectiles with time fuzes.

The T-90S gun can also fire the 9M119 Refleks (NATO designation AT-11 Sniper) anti-tank guided missile system. The range of the missile is 100m to 4,000m and takes 11.7 sec to reach maximum range. The system is intended to engage tanks fitted with ERA (Explosive Reactive Armour) as well as low-flying air targets such as helicopters, at a range of up to 5km. The missile system fires either the 9M119 or 9M119M missiles which have semi-automatic laser beamriding guidance and a hollow charge warhead. Missile weight is 23.4kg. The guns automatic loader will feed both ordnance and missiles.

Also fitted is a coaxial 7.62mm PKT machine gun and a 12.7mm air defence machine gun. A 5.45mm AKS-74 assault rifle is carried on a storage rack.

SELF-PROTECTION

The T-90 tank is protected by both conventional armour-plating and explosive reactive armour (ERA).

The T-90 is fitted with the Shtora-1 defensive aids suite which is produced by Electronintorg of Russia. This system includes infrared jammer, laser warning system with four laser warning receivers, grenade discharging system which produces an aerosol screen and a computerised control system.

It is also fitted with NBC (nuclear, biological and chemical) protection equipment.

------------------------
The T-90 has some stronger points, if DICE/EA made the tanks with real statistics.
There is a mod called 'Reality' in which all tanks have the option to switch between SABOT (Arnament container with allows smaller caliber ammo to be fired from a larger caliber gn) and HEAT (High Explosive, Anti-Tank), that is something EA has to integrate. I would love to blast tanks with HEAT, than switch to SABOT and finish of some infantry.

The most annoying thing is that the tanks damage when riding over rough terrain.
In BF2, a stunt like the following would surely destroy your tank.

On BF2:SF Warlord I always steal the T-90 as SAS. The T90 is smaller but better than the M1A2. Or it means im just a good tank player. My best effort has been taking on 2 M1A2's  & a LAV-25 and whooping one after the other.

If I could paint all killed M1A2's on my T-90 I would have to get another because it is already full.

Yes i think the MEC tank has more health or something cause unless i suprise the mec tank and get an extra hit i will always die usually.

You do realize, that SABOT is not intended to be used against infantry and will even do less to them then HEAT ammunition?

Actually, Tanks employ the following ammunitions today:

HE/HEP (High Explosive/High Explosive Plastic) which is commonly used to blast wholes into walls (somewhat a tank-fired Demo-Charge)

HEAT (High Explosive Anti Tank, the successor of HEAP, High Explosive Armor Piercing), which is used primarily against lighter armored vehicles as APC's. Basically, it is a high explosive shapecharge.

APFSDS-T (Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot - Tracer) This is what you called SABOT. This is the main ammunition in combat between Main Battle Tanks. It is also called "penetrator ammunition" since it does not detonate on impact. Basically, it is a big arrow (thus fin-stabilized) made out of either tungsten (very hard) and/or depleted uranium (very heavy).

As a matter of fact, the armor of modern MBT's reduce the effectiveness of HEAT ammunition drastically (Reactive Armor on the newer T-72, T-80 and T90 or composite armor (like Chobham Armor) on Tanks like the Challenger II or the M1 series or perforated armor (steel with ceramic filled cubic holes in the center) on the Leopard 2).
Since most composite armor relies on ceramics to a certain degree, this armor type is more brittle than steel armor and therefore kinectic penetrators are more effective here. To counter that, layers of rubber and, in some cases, depleted Uranium have been added there.

What you are looking for to kill infantry is shrapnel ammunition (sometime referred to as flechette ammunition or submunition cartridges)

Very Rarely do you see an M1A2 beat the T-90 head-to-head.
The T-90 is definitely superior when it comes to tank Vs tank.
I used to be a very big tanker, and I was pretty darned good (still am) I could beat pretty much anyone. But many times I've snuck up on a T90 and gotten two shots to his rear and he turns around and still blows me away. Sometimes I think the T-90 has a higher power on its side.

EDIT: Though, in Real life, I'm pretty sure the M1A2 is the superior tank.

Although the M1 is not the biggest tank, it is the heaviest one. Also it is the only one which uses a turbine engine which is heavier and more difficult and expensive to maintain than the conventional diesel. Also it tends to fail more in not ideal conditions.

I think that USA tank is weak over ht eMEC cause I always lose a tank war with the M! over the T-90, but at the same time, it is fair that way because the USA is just overpowered in general in the gamw with other things (like sniper rifles, carbines, etc.).

Just a question, what do those real world tank stats being posted have to do with tank balance in the game?

I think they are decently balanced, against both tanks 2 shots to the treads will take them down. I think your just getting unlucky and the other tank is shooting you in more vulnerable spots.

http://www.secretsofbattlefield.com/tankvstank.html is a good image. The armor on all the tanks is the same in the same locations in the game. The only thing I could think of is the top of the turret is larger on a M1 so maybe its eaiser for the enemy to hit that when you fight head on?

The m1 tank in the game has an absolutely shitty hitbox, that has a front sloped so that it digs into every dip and takes damage.

It also has the largest weakspot on the front treads that is easiest to hit.

Tips for winning in an m1 vs t90, keep your side armor towards them, and shoot for the fronts of their treads.

Even then, its more likely you are going to lose (anywhere but on karkand) due to the tank killing itself along the uneven ground.

The T-90 almost always has a supply box from a point hungry commander behind/beside it, anyway.

IRL the M1A2 > T90, but for bf2 ea made them pretty much even.  I play kark a lot and armor whore with the m1 often, and I don't have trouble taking out the t90...although I do like the t90 better...personal preference.
