Iraq has lost hundreds of thousands of civilians. That's right, hundreds of thousands.

Over 100,000 in 2004, mostly in air strikes, and 30,000+ just last year. How does that even compare to 9/11? The only bigger tragedy in recent history is the 2004 tsunami.

Sure... I'll pretend to believe that, and answer you: No I don't. But I do give the Guardian and CNN some credibility, don't you?

And can you name a recent disaster or war that has killed more civilians in the recent history?

Although i side with GunSlinger's on this particular topic i am still leaving my options open.  The people that have gone on record to lend credibility to the Lancet survey are not your average forum noob, in fact it was it was the UK Ministry of Defence's chief scientific adviser no less, and the UK Government was advised AGANIST publicly criticising this report.

So maybe cut back on one or two exclamation marks and save your wrists for another time....like BAN GUNS!

taken out of your link.

"close to best practice" doesnt inspire confidence.....thats kind of like "we think iraq has WMDs" right?

Not Lancet again.  You wanted a counterpoint...

http://www.iraqbodycount.net/press/pr14.php

I would have put "Search" in here, but it seems the Lancet thread has been deleted.

Pretty much shows Lancet isn't a good source in my opinion.  But yeah, dead people are the result of a war if that was your point in the OP.

The fact is even if you take the bottom end estimates for deaths caused by the war it's still been a horrendous tragedy and much, much worse than 9/11.

People get killed in war.  War is a waste.  War is terrible.

Robust is confidence injecting though isn't it?  Ministry of Defence is confidence inspiring isn't it? Chief scientific advisor perpetuates confidence doesn't it?

Let me put it this way, you swallowed the whole WMD wank like your nearest jizz deprived whore, i stated I'am leaving my options open....a chasm of difference.

Nevertheless, as B-man has posted 100,000 or 600,000....a lot of people blood spilled on the basis of the shit YOU fell for hook, line and sinker.

Time to contemplate, no?

ps

You didn't say you THINK Iraq had WMD, you went on to the UN security council to say he HAS WMD's.  At least get facts right little man.

hold on, who is killing these people?  Insurgents with bombs...fair bet that if they were not using Iraq as a stage they would be using Afganistan and if not there then some where else.  This is not Iraqi's resisting occupation, this is not war, this is Terrorism from raticals.  If you think they would be sitting at home playing cards if the US was not in Iraq, you are sadly mistaken.

the fact is that the whole "WMD" BS was used because the majority of the planet likes to pussyfoot around and would be extremely butt hurt if they knew we went to take the fight to their backyard instead of ours.

i didnt swallow anything, i knew why we needed to go there.
you still hang up on WMDs being the reason we are there..........i love the news and people like you that are inspired by words such as "robust" and "ministry of defence" and polls. LOL

If only the people in the Bush administration were as open and honest as you about the real motives for the war in Iraq...

...if they were we'd be able to put them on trial for war crimes.

That the invasion promoted by the coalition and the instability caused by the inepcy in keeping control after topling the goverment has caused a number of death's comparable only, in recent events, to the 2004 tsunami.

And also, that as much as 9/11 was a terrible act, the Iraqi people have suffered much more than any american.

And to make your post any use to the topic, also that it is very easy to just say "war is bad" or "collateral damage" when the war is far from your home.

Well they must have been sitting at home playing cards because before the US showed up Saddam, love him or hate him, was able to keep them under control. The US have given the extremists the opportunity to run riot by reducing the country to a state of uncontrollable chaos.
