That was what i was getting at. Although Ikarti got banned for still images. Not footage of people getting shot, or the sound of someone crying, or asking for strength and protection in a dire time of need.  I was upset by the pics Ikarti posted cause he was digging for a fight with those pics.  Now still pics versus video.  The video was posted with the intent to piss people off.  And it seems I was mainly the only person truely pissed off by it.
Atleast the video was removed.
Why did it piss you off so bad? I hear conservatives bash people who oppose being there, once again using that "liberal" word. I hear them bitch about democrats who are "undermining the war effort" and "using it as a political football".

As soon as you see a video of the soldiers doing thier job, you get "so pissed".
Correct if I'm wrong, CannonFodder, but I believe it pissed him off because he is currently one of those soldiers doing their job and that's not the kind of thing he wants to be seeing during his downtime.

Understandable.

However, I don't agree with the removal of the video.

Thats a conservative "counter argument". Answer a question with a question.

Second tactic is the "I do not recall" response. See Alberto Gonzalez for proper utilization of such tactic.

No there are lots of video's dealing with the military that pump me up.  Videos of Soldiers getting shot, do nothing but piss me off Because IM LIVING THAT.  Something some of you will never know.  Have you ever had to wash out a vehicle to get a fallen comrades blood out of the truck before you roll back outside the wire to try and Re-make contact with the enemy?  Have you ever caused several accidents trying to get a casualty to a cash before he goes into shock? Have you ever seen first hand a AP 7.62 round cause a magazine of 5.56mm explode and penetrate the ESAPI plates, and listen to the casualty scream out in pain everytime you had to reverse the flow of traffic, caus ethe medic didnt want to give him morphine cause the wound was a sucking chest wound and would have lowered his blood pressure and induced the number 1 killer of troops in combat (SHOCK)

Hats off to you. Considering this IS the internet, Ill take your word and give you my respect.

Now...
You can do this job you've been assigned, but dont want it filmed? Which ones pump you up? The ones of soldiers hugging children? The ones of roping Saddams statue and pulling it down? But not the videos of actual combat?

I just saw the video and was expecting a beheading or at least something equally gruesome that would warrant its removal. All I saw was footage we should all see, and should have been show to the pro-war fraternity long ago.

Censorship too far basically, this is something the kids on here definitely should see.

Anyone who saw the video and was offended I apologise. Maybes I should have included more in the OP. So that is a mistake on my part.

Cannon fodder, if i upset you by posting the video then I apologise to you individually. I didn't mean to cause anyone any offence. However, that doesn't give you the right to say you hoped I get testicular cancer and die.
I didn't make the video, I only embedded it for others to view.

I didn't think people would make such a big deal out of this.

In my opinion cannon fodder is mad at the wrong people. But Im not in the armed services so my opinion counts for shit apparently. I hope cannon and the rest of the soldiers come back safe and are only deployed for a concrete purpose in the future.

I don't know of a more noble cause than to try and bring peace and stability to an area that has seen some of the most brutal abuses against humanity in our modern times. I also believe it's our responsibility, as a "superpower" and a Judeo-Christian society to protect others that are not currently able to protect themselves. Not to sit on a high horse and proclaim myself a Holy Roller, but even an agnostic will admit that there are moral and ethical values that must be maintained in order to remain a civilized nation. We, my family and I, have nothing but respect for those in service to protect us and our freedoms, but it would be nice if the politics could be turned down so our men and women could effectively do what they know needs to be done.

There are somethings people do not need to see, you want to see footage of combat? go to youtube and type in Haifa Street

3 days of fighting. Hellfires,TOWs, and a MLRS strike.  Thats shows you what the war is like without soldiers screaming in pain and begging for protection.  That video that was posted just showed some shit that does no good to the people that have seen it and brings up bad thoughts.  I don't need to be remembering crap like that.
I'm not mad at the wrong people.  I'm mad cause that video showed some stuff that should not have been posted. Ikarti posted some pics of dead people. BANNED, thats a video of people getting shot and screaming for help and in pain.  Whats the difference the fact there was music involved?  Body shots dont bother me.
Watching soldiers get shot and being CASEVACed does. Listening to that guy pray, and ask for help added to it.

Iraq videos that motivate me, are videos a few of my friends made showing door breaches, squads stacked on a wall, while a door gets blown into a street and trooops running in to secure the building.  Movies of us doing our jobs, but not movies of joe getting shot.  There is a difference.  Me myself I have seen enough friends get killed, I have seen enough get sent home never to return.  I don't want to relive those feelings of "Oh Shit" During the first few minutes after an EFP Strike when you are trying to figure out if those 11 personnal in the stryker in front of you are dead or wounded. I really don't enjoy watching a platoon trying to beat they're way into a stryker to save a Driver who is on fire and cannot open his hatch cause his fingers are melting.  (SPC Ward, Baghdad, Iraq April 2007)  The radio is our lifesaver and also our greatest curse when you get a radio call that says "Catastrophic Kill, B34 is burning, mobility kill, loss of power, trying to pop the troop hatch to assess casualties"

I don't enjoy seeing these things cause it hurts. Knowing that my unit has been here for 10 months, and my battalion alone has recieved 6 KIA's and about 15 WIA's that have been returned to the states. Knowing that some asshole is forcing me to stay another 6.

I have a 20 month old Daughter and Twin girls a little over a month old.  I've got enough on my plate then to relive fucked up moments of my life.

With all due respect you are not under any duress to watch the video.  Your reasoning above is based on the premise that you have to watch the video or have done so.  You're not.

I'll give you an example, I've only ever seen 1 beheading video and this was back in 1999 long before the became a popular tool of Al Qaeda.  it was a black and white grainy video dated from the first Chechnya war of a young Russian solider having is head sawn off.  I remember like it was yesterday and it fucking scarred me.  I've never watch once since and i avoid them like the plague.  It pisses me off when i discover people i know have this material in their possession.

Neverthless, this is how it works on the Internet, if you don't like it, you don't watch it.  Move on.  Only sick twisted people find enjoyment in that sort of shit.

Like i posted earlier, the first 10 seconds of that video is harrowing, brings the reality of war home.

There wasnt anything on the video that you dont see on the news or in the papers. You obviously know its powerful images as the thread's name gives you a clue.

I understand that if you've got first hand experience you dont want to watch it, thats fine. But then dont complain about it after you've seen it.

You have to remember that incidents like this have been happening for a long time. I remember the Falklands war and the images that were on the news then. Much, much worse than what you see there. People on fire running around on burning frigates, that stays with you and so will this. But I had warning that it was offensive and made the choice to view it.

Personally I think that the mods taking down that video was wrong. Its the truth, its happening and its freely avaialble to view, so why cant it be accessible in a post here?

Ok here is a good video from haifa street.  No bleeding troops, but you get to see us doing our jobs.
Its B-roll footage from Combat Camera (military camera crew) There is a scene there where you wil see a sniper team from Comanche Company (C Co 1/23) you will here a distinct snapping type sound.  Thats all you need to hear to know a shot just flew near you.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LB8XwZfTg8

For the record that was the 3rd time we hit haifa street.  Its hard to clear and hold several high rise apartment buildings ovverun with insurgents.  (First time we were in an ambushes killzone for 4 hours, second time was a 15 hour fire fight, 3rd time was a 12 hour fire fight)  That guy using the barrett, thats a good friend of mine, from my company.  The guy working the PARA-SAW, thats a squad mate of mine.

So, it's ok to watch Coalition soldiers shooting at (and presumably killing) Iraqis/insurgents. But it's not ok to see the effects of Iraqis/insurgents shooting back.

Hypocrisy FTW!

hhmmmm.

The video I posted showed the results of what some of these weopons are doing on Iraqi insurgents/civilians. I am sickened more by ignorance than the sight of a dead body.

From that distance an ak47 is inaccurate.
