There are somethings people do not need to see, you want to see footage of combat? go to youtube and type in Haifa Street
3 days of fighting. Hellfires,TOWs, and a MLRS strike. Thats shows you what the war is like without soldiers screaming in pain and begging for protection. That video that was posted just showed some shit that does no good to the people that have seen it and brings up bad thoughts. I don't need to be remembering crap like that.
I'm not mad at the wrong people. I'm mad cause that video showed some stuff that should not have been posted. Ikarti posted some pics of dead people. BANNED, thats a video of people getting shot and screaming for help and in pain. Whats the difference the fact there was music involved? Body shots dont bother me.
Watching soldiers get shot and being CASEVACed does. Listening to that guy pray, and ask for help added to it.
Iraq videos that motivate me, are videos a few of my friends made showing door breaches, squads stacked on a wall, while a door gets blown into a street and trooops running in to secure the building. Movies of us doing our jobs, but not movies of joe getting shot. There is a difference. Me myself I have seen enough friends get killed, I have seen enough get sent home never to return. I don't want to relive those feelings of "Oh Shit" During the first few minutes after an EFP Strike when you are trying to figure out if those 11 personnal in the stryker in front of you are dead or wounded. I really don't enjoy watching a platoon trying to beat they're way into a stryker to save a Driver who is on fire and cannot open his hatch cause his fingers are melting. (SPC Ward, Baghdad, Iraq April 2007) The radio is our lifesaver and also our greatest curse when you get a radio call that says "Catastrophic Kill, B34 is burning, mobility kill, loss of power, trying to pop the troop hatch to assess casualties"
I don't enjoy seeing these things cause it hurts. Knowing that my unit has been here for 10 months, and my battalion alone has recieved 6 KIA's and about 15 WIA's that have been returned to the states. Knowing that some asshole is forcing me to stay another 6.
I have a 20 month old Daughter and Twin girls a little over a month old. I've got enough on my plate then to relive fucked up moments of my life.
With all due respect you are not under any duress to watch the video. Your reasoning above is based on the premise that you have to watch the video or have done so. You're not.
I'll give you an example, I've only ever seen 1 beheading video and this was back in 1999 long before the became a popular tool of Al Qaeda. it was a black and white grainy video dated from the first Chechnya war of a young Russian solider having is head sawn off. I remember like it was yesterday and it fucking scarred me. I've never watch once since and i avoid them like the plague. It pisses me off when i discover people i know have this material in their possession.
Neverthless, this is how it works on the Internet, if you don't like it, you don't watch it. Move on. Only sick twisted people find enjoyment in that sort of shit.
Like i posted earlier, the first 10 seconds of that video is harrowing, brings the reality of war home.
