I read that some people (Syria, perhaps, which is weird) were explaining the latest violence as a reaction to the impending UN vote to prosecute people responsible for the Hariri assassination. I don't really understand how they are related, except maybe if Lebanon is totally destabilized that will interfere with any investigation or prosecution.
BTW isn't there is tons of UN troops in Lebanon?
The middle east is one fucked up place to be.
Why did the West have to fuck with it before/during/after WW1? WHY?Pubic wrote:

Honestly, the people, places and culture can be and are beautiful... Just too much fucking fighting going on.
Oh, and the wahabbists.
Lebanon would be a far better ally for the US than Pakistan for any number of reasons....
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
Shitty borders were drawn that made thousands of people who hate each other live together and millions who love each other live apart.Flecco wrote:

No, no more Marines, let the savages kill each other. We don't need to lose more good men (and women) fighting other peoples battles and then getting spit on.usmarine2005 wrote:

Agreed, ATG.CameronPoe wrote:
It's ironic how the Lebanese are now adopting the inefficient and barbaric tactic the Israelis employed in their failed attempt to get back their two captured soldiers in the recent conflict in Lebanon, eh? What a steaming pile of intense smelling mottled green elephant shit the middle east is.

An-94 maybe? Personally I think it looks like an AK, but can't be too sure.rdx-fx wrote:

From what everyone else around him is carrying (AK-47, M-16, etc) - I'd be more inclined to guess AK-74.
Note the relatively long/thin magazine, long distance from pistol grip to magazine well.

What I don't understand is why, if both Israel and Lebanon hate the terrorists. Why in the 2006 conflict didn't the Lebanese army help/Why didn't the Israeli's ask for help and how did they even get there in the first place. So many questions, so weird.

TRIPOLI, Lebanon (AP) -- Lebanon's army on Saturday pounded al Qaeda-inspired Islamic militants hiding in a Palestinian refugee camp in renewed heavy clashes following a few days of intermittent fighting.Mekstizzle wrote:

Because Hezbollah are popular to a certain degree and a fight with them could make or break Lebanon. This group they're attacking now are a small fringe movement they want to nip in the bud before it gets out of control.Mekstizzle wrote:

hmn. all this talk of pounding is making me hot.
Its a shame really that it has to come to this, sometimes i just find myself wishing they'd just hurry up and have-at-it. Instead of just sitting there like a steaming kettle
