READ HERE FOR UNSPECIFIC SUMMARY TO SEE IF YOU MIGHT KNOW:
My friends computer would loop before it ran windows, restarting itself. So i tried using different plugs, that didnt work. So I installed it into my computer and I can access the files so i know the HDD works.
Okay, so my friend dropped his computer off with me to avoid geek squad. Basically, I plugged it in. And the DELL screen came up, told the bios, loaded (Not sure how DELLS do it but mine lists what its booting and whats plugged in then starts.
Then, it black screens, and starts over again, basically I get about 4 seconds out of it before it re-starts itself. So I cleared the CMOS. and Instead of restarting It gave me the option to do a "setup" witch is basically the basics on the computer, picking drives, saftey, power managment and all (I forget the name of this) And I saved it thinking It set itself up (which is what it looked like listing everything)
So I restart. And same thing, So i went in to the Hard Drive, or where it should be and it lists it as " Not installed" So I go and check it inside, all hooked up, and I think, maybe its a dead port? Because theres one belt wire going from the mobo into the HDD, so I take the same exact type wire from the CD or DVD drive im not sure, and plug that in, and start it, still doesnt pick it up.
So I go into my computer, and free up a wire and grab a 4 pin molex. Plug it in, start it up. and I can now access all of the files on that HDD. And I can copy them but Id like it to work on that computer. Any ideas?
Thanks
