With my exams finally over, I am now buying a new computer. This will be primarily for gaming. The only other thing I will do is internet browsing and occasional work.

For those of you whose eyes cannot look left I'm from UK, so no Newegg.

Anyway because of the inevitable flaming which comes when anyone asks about systems I have decided to build it myself. Having never done this before I will be grateful for any help. After looking at other posts I have looked around on overclockers and come up with this. http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/8607 … ofoaw3.jpg. Any input or changes are welcome. I really have no idea about power/ motherboards etc.

Things I want:
1. 2 or more GB of corsair RAM
2. 8800 series graphics
3. intel C2D processor

Things I don't want:
1. Ati
2. AMD
3. Components that are likely to break and are unreliable.

I need everything, including speakers, monitors, keyboard and OS apart from a mouse.

I was thinking of getting this monitor. http://www.pcwb.com/catalogue/item/LGMON242

If I can't get all the parts I could always get this system http://www.chillblast.com/product.php?p … amp;page=1

But I really want to build it, so please help me out.

My budget is around £1,000 excluding OS. Because I could probably get my parents to pay for that.

I'm going with the 640mb, but that's almost the exact same computer I'm building except I went with an acrylic case instead of yours..and 4 gigs of ram.... http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?pi … 2#p1493762 a lot of people on here helped me decide..

Tip: buy it all at ounce.

Don't get a 680i mobo if you're not going to have Sli. Save the £40 from getting a Gigabyte P35 board and spend it on some RAM with native CAS4 timings.

I was hoping to leave it open for possible future upgrade.

How, did u come to that conclusion that they break and are unreliable?  I agree you should go with C2D and nvidia but I dont see how you can say that ^^^

I just mean I don't want parts that are likely to break and unreliable.
It would have been easier to read if i put.

1. Ati
2. AMD
3. Components that are likely to break and are unreliable.

I see now that it was a little ambiguous.

Looks pretty good to me. If you can, tack on a WD 74GB 10K RPM drive, or two in Raid0. SUPER fast loading speeds.

k, but where are you gettin there unreliable from?  Personal experience maybe?  Check scan.co.uk or overclockers.co.uk, I tried pricing a system, scan is probably cheaper (havent checked) and the monitor in here isnt exactly what I would choose but they didnt have that big a selection

Why get a LCD for gaming, get a CRT if you can find one... View-sonic G90f+ is what I use and it kills any LCD out there.

Also the MSI platinum motherboards are very good for their price and very easy to overclock.

Can't beat Raptor 10k hard drives, Panasonic CD/DVD RW, everything else is pretty much the same as long as you don't get too cheap, the poor man pays twice.

logitech G5 mouse (get the new one with two thumb buttons), and Z-board with the BF2 or BF2142 keyset.

I do not mean that ati and amd are unreliable. I just don't want them.

components that are likely to break and are unreliable was a separate point, unrelated to the fact I don't want ati or amd either.
