EA's Genius with the Award System. or " My Epiphany" It makes you become a better team player.

Most people pretty much do their own thing and ignore teammates. They drive off in empty vehicles while three guys are calling for pickups etc, We have all seen this . But a guy going for an Award or Badge . Holysiht !  He's tossing medic bags or ammo or following your vehicle with his wrench out.
A guy going For his Medic Badge stays with a group, dispensing health bags and giving revives. The same with support or Repair. If he notices some one in that kit with the group already doing the same, he will usually seek out a group who lacks his kit. He can usually be found desperately seeking knowledge on how to further polish his craft. In effect he becomes a better player, a better team player and an asset to the people near him.

Further improvements on this line could be.

To encourage people to join squads, It should be slightly easier to accumulate points while in a squad. For example maybe if you get four points you'd  get an additional one for being part of a squad or  maybe a squad point with every seven you earn. This would be useful for the Expert badges as it could really make a difference that extra point or two. The UAV and Scan spots could last Slightly longer for a player who was in a squad as opposed to the isolated lone wolf.

Still some people only join squads to use the command screen or occasional spawn forward. And then they wander off from their squad entirely being of no tactical use. The Squad is full and no one else can join, yet it wont or cant act as a Team. To promote squad tactics they should make it so being with your  own squad would have additional benefits. For example. Health, Ammo or Repair could be dispensed, accepted, effected or absorbed faster by your own Squad members. Example, if a Medic can Give 5 health Bars in 4 or 5 seconds, His own Squad mates could absorb it in 3 or 4. The distance at which assistance could be given or received should be slightly greater for your own squad members. The same with Repairs. Damage could be repaired quicker if its your squad mate. If you spotted someone or some thing the spot would last a bit longer on your squad mates mini maps. I think this would over all facilitate better team play and tactics. You would find Squads would be more well rounded with different kits.

We have all seen how just three or four clan members can really swing a game in even a 64 player server.  Its Team work. I believe this would promote the game as it was designed, and if you were just having fun, You really wouldn't notice the differences implemented. Also, I cant see how this would be a detriment in any form.

I really wanted to double post this in Chatter and BFS2 but thought they get pissed.

" Well miss. First off, I will teach you how to post, And after a couple of nights, when you get the technique down, Hell we can even put you on a horse "

Great idea. I'm absolutely 100% behind it - i think you should 'mail it to EA.

I agree with this part mostly. Its the only way I can think of getting those gunhoe bastards to join squads, without having an option to force them into a squad.

Agreed 100%.  It'd certainly encourage better teamplay.  As stated I always have a much better game when I'm in a decent squad, even if we're losing..

Oooh! Those are great ideas! Maybe could go as far as only making UAV effect visible for those who are in squads. Thou that would maybe just create more of those 1man-squads. But I guess thats better than lonewolfs.

If you're encouraging squad points, it might be a better idea to incorporate a radius.  Otherwise what stops people from forming a squad and then doing their usual lone wolf tactics.

TBH unless you're playing in a single seater jet, there's no real benefit to not playing in a squad.  Or at least none that can't be countered by force of arms.

Then again, once you get VOIP and getting on a server with your friends - that's when BF2 is at it's best.

here's an idea...make the commander have the option to warn a loan wolf to join a squad, and if he doesn't join in 30 seconds he gets -2 points. (of coarse this would only work if there were squads with open slots..)

Cheers friend, great idea.  Submit that one.  If the speeding up of the dispense idea isn't viable, how about an extra point for Med/Support/Eng for helping out a squadmate vs the rest of your team.
ie:
Revive your teammate  = x points
Revive your squadmate = x + 1 points

I think it's a great idea!!

Really works, i hate when me and my mates create a squad and then some dude joins it but doesn't do anything we ask or anything. We usually just boot them, but sometimes we want to switch the squad leader around because of tactical advantages or spawn points, whatever, but we can't do that if someone in our squad isn't doing what we want, and so it ruins it

i don't know about the added point though, that can add up quickly and i don't know how balanced that'd be (3 points for a revive but only 2 for kills?) i don't think that should happen

I agree. However I do think getting the longer UAV or quicker heal/repair goes a little overboard.  I would like to see some sort of server option to force squad play.  Because not matter what incentives you add, there are still going to be people that refuse to play as a member of a team.

WOW, I JUST posted something like this earlier this morning over at the EA forums.  Thank God some folks out there are thinking along the same lines!

My other idea was to cut Lone Wolf scoring in half---2 frags gets ya 1 frag point, that kinda thing.  Most lone wolves just wanna be by themselves so they can hot-dog.  If a lone wolf squads up, andthey stray outside of the suggested squad radius, they lose their squad benefits. That kinda thing.

I hope EA is reading this.

Extra points it's not a reason for being in squad... if u want to be in squad and play as a team - you'll join... if not.. ok.. NOOBs will always play alone...

I like the idea, it would be bad for snipers though.

There needs to be some sort of extended squad mechanism for fighters, snipers, attack and transport helos, even armor because all these units would benefit from squad communication but no one ever seems to wan t to cooperate on that level.  I have never seen anyone take the idea of an airborne squad or mechanized squad seriously.

the closest I've ever gotten to some sort of airbrone coordination was when my squad leader got in a blackhawk, and we all spawned on him while he was airbrone en route to our first cap.  It was so beautiful, I nearly wept.

I think if you spend too much time away from your squad leader your character should be executed, the same way you get killed for going outside the map. That'll teach people to join squads and just run around willy nilly doing nothing with their squad.

I was playing wake when we had a squad go Airborne.

I was in the F-35, 2 were in the Cobera and 3 were in the Blackhawk (pilot and gunners). The Cobera called me to take the AA out, which allowed it to move in on the base. It circled the base while the hawk captured it.

Nothing sweeter than good teamwork.

I'm pretty sure EA dosn't care how people play the game. It's quite an Epiphany, but I think EA came up with the awards and rank system to hook people into the game and make sure they keep playing it. I think it was the makers of Gameboy games who figured it out first. Levels!
If you're constantly striving for the next level, and can see how much more you need, you go for it. Similarly with awards. This means you keep playing the game, and in EA's wise opinion, keep paying for Expansion packs and Booster packs.

Once you've bought the game, EA dosn't give a shit about you. You're no longer a potential customer. If however, you keep playing enthusiasticly for awards and ranks, and keep playing until the next Booster pack or Expansion, you have now become a potential customer again, and EA is your bitch again.

Ranks and awards are to keep you playing so you'll pay more money when EA wants you to. That's why I think EA introduced the Awards/rank system, and a good marketing ploy it was too.

I haven't been playing for very long.  Only about two months or so.  But I crave teamwork.  My buddy, that I play with mostly, he's traditionally a lonewolf(msgt., I'm a lowly gunny). and he talks shit to me when I start talking about teamwork.  But then I have alot of ideas that far out strip my skill level.  Maybe I'm not playing on the right servers.  It annoys me that the apcs are such good infantry hunters but without your own infantry to support you you have to keep moving all the time to avoid those damn sf pukes.  And if you canty talk to them you just end up running over your own guys.  Just a little cooridnation people, its all I ask.
