I'm considering either the e6850 or the Q6600. Both are chunky and both are the same price.
I am right now using a dinosaur of a PC. Old 423 socket P4 1.7 GHZ with 1 gig of RDRAM that was bought back in 2000. Old old old computer. It's finally time to upgrade.
My plans are a 8800GTX (because the video card is usually my first upgrade after a few years), one of the two cpu's listed above, and 2 gigs of fast RAM (RAM has not been researched yet... so use your imagination).
My question is thus. I usually use the same computer for years. Heck this one is 7 years old and I'd still use it if the disc drives didn't give out (the mobo gave out, not the drives, but it's not an easy fix). I'd like something a little future proof but not expensive.
So would a quad-core 2.4 GHz with 1066 MHz FSB be a little more future proof than a dual-core 3GHz with 1333 MHz FSB? I need you all to chime in with your opinion.
If you were to get either the E6850 or the Q6600 and you had to keep them for 5-7 years, which would you choose?
