Terrorists are either (1) idiots, (2) uber-closely watched, or (3) fewer in number than we think because if you had a half dozen guys, one of whom was an insulin dependent diabetic you could turn this country upside down in 48 hours.
How hard would it be for a guy who can legally by 1cc syringes with 29 gauge 1/2 inch needles to give each of 5 friends (fellow terrorists) 5 syringes? Not hard. They could then take those syringes, inject them with rat poison, or some more deadly poison, and those 5 guys could drive to 5 major metropolitan areas. They walk into 5 grocery stores each, right around closing time when the place is nearly empty, pick out some fruit, and then head to the back of the store where there are no cameras, or into the bathroom, then they inject one peach, or apple, or tomato with poison.
That's 5 guys, 5 stores, in 5 different cities.
Now, maybe only half of the fruit is purchased.
Maybe only half of that is eaten.
But, pretty soon you've got 6 cases of strange poison related illness and word leaks out about what happened. How long before you're only buying canned fruit and the rest of the nation is completely panicked? "Dont buy fruit, it has all been poisoned by the terrorists."
What about taking a load of fertilizer and a bunch of gun powder that's been scraped out of model rocket engines, and buying a $2,500 pickup and loading up the bed of the truck with a homemade bomb? You could drive that through the lobby of any glass-front high rise hotel and kill God knows how many people.
It would be SOOOOO easy to either send this country into a panic, or a kill a shit-ton of people, or both, that the fact that it hasn't happened leads me to believe that either (1) there are VERY FEW terrorists in this country, maybe numbering in the tens or dozens but no more, (2) they are all stupid asses, or (3) our government is doing some phenomenal shit we'll never know about. I'm leaning to a mixture of the three.
