Hi all,

I posted recently about a problem I had with my card.

Strange lines from mounted guns

Well I sent BFG an e-mail, and they are sending me a new card.
No hassle, no arguing about the problem, nothing.

I know the card has developed a fault, but with customer service like this, I would recommend them to everyone.

Maybe it's because they are in the U.S. I don't know, but I am not used to great service like this.

Anyone else experienced this ?

I've only had nVidia GPU's, and my most newest one is in my laptop.  So far, (thankfully) I have yet to need to get it replaced, same goes for the one in my desktop back at my mom's house.  But that sounds like wicked awesome customer service from BFG!  I'm curious as well if anyone else has experienced this...

Edit: btw I'm highly uninformed when it comes to GPU's, besides knowing the names nVidia and ati radeon, and that usually a higher product number = better card.  So if my above post makes no sense, I apologize for my ignorance.

I too purchased a card from them that failed. My issue was that i needed the system to be up so I suggested that they FedEx me a forward replacement (where I would pay the charge for another), then they would credit me (less shipping) upon receipt of the one I was mailing in.

The said that "they were not equipped to do this", so I ignored their RMA and just RMA'd it back to Newegg.com (without paying any stocking fees).

From service standpoint they were friendly, but did not show interested in handling my needs, rather steamrolling over what I had asked and just giving me an RMA to send it them.

From a product standpoint, I know they have a good reputation, but I found what came in the box a bit gimmicky(Teflon pads for mouse, t shirt, and some other feel good schwag).

Nice.  Never had anyone do that for me.

Its a common problem with the 7900 series of gfx cards, i think that is one of the main reasons for the speedy service.  But BFG is a good company when it comes to customer service.

I've never had a problem with their stuff so I can't elaborate on their customer service. My 8800 gtx is BFG as well as my 680i chipset mobo.

I've never talked to their customer support, but awhile back i won a 6600gt from BFG Gaming for playing CSS on their servers a lot. It was great, and they apparently sent it fedex overnight which is something i never would have expected any other company to do on something i was getting for free.

I have a BFG card and it's been over heating a bit latley and the game's been lagging, it's an nvidea 7600,

so i took the card out yesterday and noticed that the fan has a split or crack in the centre where the fins of the fan is.

so today i went and bought a passive cooling system BUT.....it didn't fit even though it says it should fit a 7600 series.

SO i put the old fan back on till tomorow when i'm going to try and resolve the passive cooling system problem.

from what i've heard fans on g/cards can be a problem and i've been told there's better ways to cool g/cards.

Having read your post, and if i'm not able to resolve the passive cooling system issue i'm now thinking of getting in touch with BFG.

thx for putting this post up, it could be of great help.....karma to you

I had the exact same problem with my 7900 GT OC - the problem gradually got worse, with random pixelation, crashes and even some wierd pulsing fan noises

I emailed BFG, sent my card off under RMA and recieved a brand spanking new 7950GT OC last friday - great service and a free upgrade!

From the off i had no hassle, no questions, nothing, just instant service, a postal adress and pure peace of mind, defo recommend BFG

I heard it was a common fault with the 7900GT OC so hopefully the 7950 will be ok - so far no problems

Good luck getting yours sorted mate, let me know if u get the upgrade too!

Edit: You don't even need to provide proof of purchase to prove you are the original owner - something which suprised me

BFG, EVGA and XFX all have outstanding customer service. XFX is probably the best, with their no fuss double lifetime warranty (so if you sell the card, the person you sell it to still has warranty coverage).

Think my card came with a life time guarantee.  If I over clock it till it dies will the send me a new one?  hopefully better than my 5500sx (yes bf2 does run pants but its still an ace game)

I hope EVGA does that if my GTX goes kaput...

That's pretty good service. I've had a similar experience with eVGA. After about 2 months, my 7800GT started getting artifacts everywhere. eVGA gave me an RMA number, I returned it, and got a new card for free in about 3 weeks. From the sounds of it, BFG and eVGA have astounding customer service, and I plan on buying from them from now on.

Poseidon: you have nothing to worry about.

I once got a full refund off Asus when I returned a broken card, nearly 18 months after I bought it. It took them about a year to respond though, and I'd completely forgotten about it, until suddenly a nice chunk of cash appeared in my bank and they sent me an email saying I'd been refunded - I was so happy - and I used that money to buy a GPU that was a bit more up to date.

Worked out really well, but took ages....

I bought a BFG 7900GTX from Newegg.com and it came DOA. BFG's customer support was professional and unscripted. It turned out that they (BFG) could send me an advance replacement (by allowing them to charge me for another one), nor could they do overnight, even at my expense. I though they failed in having such a casual time consuming way to do a replacement.

Instead I just RMA'd it back to Newegg.com directly and ended up getting an 7950gx2 (Asus) in its place.

Were you unhappy with BFG then? I'm a bit confused. Also, that's too bad that they offered you an advanced replacement for the card. I think I was offered that as well, but I decided to send my card first, and not get charged for it, and deal with the longer lead time. Would you have gotten refunded for the advanced replacement when they received the defective card? (just curious here)

BFG cards are hit and miss, but BFG Tech are pretty good at customer support. Unfortunately, I had to RMA a 6800 Ultra OC AGP three times from 2004 to now. Once, early in 2005 and twice (probably due to them trying out a reburbed card on me for a replacement on my second RMA) this year. If you make sure you press your point to the guy on the phone, they will send you information on how to get free shipping for RMA, otherwise the cost is a bit steep.

Still, for all the ups and downs, if it's NVIDIA, I'd rather have BFG Tech than any other, due to some of my poor experiences with eVGA early in the GeForce line.

From the other thread:

I sow confusion.

In the end I was dissapointed.

First the inital fact that the card was DOA.

Secondly, they would not send an advance replacement and they would not use overnight/2 day services (even if I carried the expence). This meant that my build would have had to sit for over a week if I just followed thier plan which was: (1) send us the card (2) Wait for us to receive (3) We will send ups ground.

Well it's funny this has been brought back to life...

I am now emailing BFG because I am now on my THIRD 7900

I have had a blue screen restart once, when it got to 71 degrees.

Also now I have random crashes, the PC locks up and won't do anything.
I have lines down both monitors, until they turn off one at a time.
Then back on, then off and so it goes on.

I'm happy to hear this about the customer support.  I wouldn't mind having to RMA something if I was having issues, as long as they were taking care of me.  I just bought 2 8800 GTX's, so we'll see how things go.

while we're on the subject of VGA's, whats a decent temp for a card to run at?

I guess all cards/machine setups are different but just a rough range of temps- mines running @ 49 deg cel I've just put on a "iceberq 5 cooling

kit on the card and i'm  just running windows after O/clocking

it to memory clock = 300 mhz - 3 D clock = 427 mhz by letting the card decide whats best.

49 degrees C is good.

Update time.

BFG have finally answered my email after 4 days
I told them I don't want another 7900.
I said I either want an upgrade to an 8 series, which I am willing to pay for,
or I want my money back.

I'm just waiting to see what they say now.
