If you're benchmarking it should be off really to get true results but to be honest when playing a fast paced game you're not going to notice the tiny differences in the image and should probably have it on.
Play around with it, I doubt you'll notice anything obvious. I'd just leave it on.
Yeah, the main issues with Catalyst AI are in the area of stability. I too have played around with it a bit and basically can't tell any visual difference between it being on and off. I did however find having it on seemed to make things a little less stable. I also actually don't think turning it off hits performance that much either.
