I've got a user who is using a Intel Core Mac with Photoshop CS2 and is unable to open .jpg files in Photoshop.  When he attempts to open the .jpg file the program doesn't lock but displays the "busy" icon when you scroll over the header bar.  I re-installed photoshop and it worked fine for about a day and started doing it again.  Any ideas as to what could cause this?

INFO:

Intel Core MAC running OSX.
Photoshop--latest version.
All .jpg files are set to open in Photoshop by default.
MAC is a tower, not a laptop.
Re-installation did not work.
Drivers are current. (as far as I can tell)

I am an uber noob when it comes to MAC's so I don't know my right ass cheek from the left on this issue.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cougar, I went on to find some answers for you. Could you post a movie, or some screenshots of the screen while opening the file (Screenshot is Command+Shift+3). Does it hang at the splash screen? Please post a screenshot.

These are the possible sollutions

Trash your photoshop preferences as explained here : http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewCon … ;sliceId=1

This was a huge problem with CS2.
Run disk utility and check the permission of your HD.
Have you tried making a new system user account? Do that for me, and log in to that account and try to open files.
If that works then your installation is corrupt, and you need to Archive and Install OS X.

That is done by the following method:

Just insert your OS DVD and restart. Hold down the C key. The computer will boot from he DVD.
Choose the Archive and install option this will give you fresh new users and system without destroying settings or applications.
It will take about 45 minutes including running the combo update to 10.4.10.
If that did not help, try contacting Adobe

Does Photoshop jam only when opening JPEG? Or does it generally jam when opening anything?
