Here's a question: if the middle east had no oil, gas or coal resources would Islamic fundamentalist terrorism, as we know it, exist today and threaten the west?

The fact that Islamic fundamentalist terrorism occurs outside the Middle East is certainly evidence for a yes vote. Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, Northern Africa...although representing a specific, direct, "threat to the west" could be debatable.CameronPoe wrote:

The Qur'an. And it doesn't implicitly state that. Indeed, Muslims accept other religions very well - the Jews and Arabs of al-Medinah sheltered Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his small group of followers as they fled the warring parties of Makkah. They were eternally in their debt, and when Muhammad (peace be upon him) managed to establish Islam as the religion of that area, they let the Jews and Christians etc. live there in peace - they were given nearly all the same rights as Muslims (protected, and such). Quite, some of Muhammad's (peace be upon him) relatives were Christian and stated that the Chrisitan prophesies (don't ask me which) were coming true in Muhammad and that he was the next messenger from God (Allah).Mitch wrote:
Well. A lot of there motivation to kill is fueled by religion. Somewhere in Allahs bible (i cant think of the name...) it says to kill those who dont follow him...
Thanks for clearing that up. Im not to familiar with the Qur'an as you can see.TheDarkRaven wrote:

The Qur'an does not state that it is the duty of every Muslim to kill non-believers - merely that upon the day of judgement Allah shall not welcome them to paradise (their loss).
Hope this clarifies the situation.
As to the original post, Islamic terror would still exist as 'the West' - as it is known - would still be interfering and meddling in a situation it cannot comprehend. Also, CameronPoe, I thought a wise person such as yourself would realise that by stating that they are on a 'jihad', they actually aren't and so are not truly Muslims. 'Islamic terror', as you call it, does not exist - this is scaremongering (and I thought you disliked that, no?). They are outcasts who merely wish to use twisted words of a peaceful religion for their own ends.
All the best,
Andy
Muhammad wasn't the son of "God" which Jesus claimed he was (i think) - It's more like Moses. Just some guy that supposedly got some info from said deity. A "prophet"Mitch wrote:

Was that before or after the massacre of the Qurayza?TheDarkRaven wrote:

Allah is singular and does not have three unique personalities like God (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit) in Christianity. Jesus is a prophet to Muslims, while he is God to Christians.Mitch wrote:

Christians believe in the Trinity. God in Christianity has three personalities, opposed to Allah who has one, that is why he is singular. Allah is just Allah, while God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.Mitch wrote:
Wow. I still dont get it.
Allah is singular? as apposed to what. Who is king god to the muslims? and then where does allah fit it.
Umm... I'm pretty certain your not right about the christian part... Christians believe on 1 god. He is 'God' thats his name. Then there Christ and stuff.. In christianity ive never heard of the trinity.... and in christianity ive never heard anything about 3 personalities.Phrozenbot wrote:

Bingo!!!! You are correct sir. This has been my point on many threads. This is a world wide threat. A war of an ideology that extremists want to force onto the rest of the world and they always choose countries in turmoil or legitimate causes to hi-jack to promote their ideology. The west will always be a target and the threat is not going away any time soon. They hate our way of life and want everybody to follow theirs.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:
