I must confess, I TK-ed our US commander a couple of times on Wake Only today after repeated attempts at asking him over VOIP and message to command and not multi-task. It felt good and guilty at the same time, I DO NOT TK (coz of ticket count) but am sick and tired of multi-tasking commanders.

I was pissed today. I got killed, so im screaming for a medic. We were capping factry on karkand and we were usmc. There were no enemies around, as they just got killed. So a medic appears, but just continues to stand there capping the flag. So I waited till is was capped, came over and shot the shit out of him. Took his medic kit, revived him, and then killed him again. And repeat that one more time. Felt good. Best tk ever.

Well commanders if they are good players can do both...however some should either command or fight and not lose the team tickets...really depends if he was any good and whether you just tked him out of frustration as you wanted to command?

It is not hard to multi-task as a commander. I dislike servers who think commanders should focus just on commanding w/o giving them a chance to do both. As long as you know how to use the command hotkeys and avoid using the command screen it is not that hard to multi-task.

Nah, not that frustrated, I like commanding (I am not the best and if I have a bad team that loves camping I will resign) but I confess that if I don't hear the constant bleep of an UAV, I will complain and eventually mutiny. That US commander on Wake cost the us the round, we had a great team though.

It always feels good to have a good commander who's monitoring the battle closely, kinda like having your personal angel watching over your shoulders. Even an average commander who commands 100% isn't too bad coz he can respond quickly, that few seconds can be life or death.

Rellim83 - I respectfully disagree with you on this. The Commanding role in BF2 is an awesome one, it's not the arti strike, nor the supply, it's the ability to see the entire MAP at all levels. You get to see enemy movement and ultimately enemy intention. The main role of a commander I feel is INTEL, and intel holds the key in winning the game at it's highest levels. With VOIP, you can warn the team about enemy movement, and suggest withdrawal or even flanking maneuvers. Btw, it's different from spamming 'ENEMY SPOTTED'. I learnt that the hard way.

I can go on and on about this, coz I love the commander job but enough said, INTEL is why commanding is a 100% job.

i agree with you there fannwong. when im commanding, i dont do anything else (unless if i have to defend the point im sitting at)  i will constantly be monitoring the map and checking where the enemy is at and then relaying that info to teammates. if your team knows where the enemy is or is heading, you have a much higher chance of winning and holding the CPs.

I was so close to TK my commander yesterday.
First game:
The enemy had only one spawn point left. I asked for UAV while capturing the last flag in my tank. UAV transmitted and showed three red dots. Some MG bullets and two tank shells later there were no red dots left. I didn't notice, while shooting the enemy, that my commander ordered a barrage directly at my location. What was he thinking: "That tank capturing a flag is surrounded by red dots. I'm dropping arty direct on his head. That will help to deal with the problem." I died before I could neutralize the flag and the enemy was able to recapture some flags. Easy win blown in the wind.

The following rounds:
The same dude applied for commander and he always dropped artillery near his own troops when the UAV showed some red dots.
I told him to stop dropping arty when his own troops are near. They will deal with the red dots and he should use the sat scan to find a good target area for a barrage.

But what if he dies? Then you have 15 seconds without supplies, UAV, scan, or arty.

When I play on the weekends with my friend and a bunch of people, and we're on wake and USMC, we all make a squad and jump in the black hawk then go about 500 feet up and halo jump over the flags. If my friend is commander, he usually sits up in the blackhawk with us as an engineer, so he gets repair points if we get hurt, plus kill assits if we kill anyone (but not likely at 500 feet, although he did cap a pilot out of a jet with the minigun) plus he can still command 100%.

But if you're out on the battlefield getting shot at and someone needs supplies or whatever, it's hard to do that while getting shot.

CrazeD - exactly why I felt that I had to TK. UAV was sparodic, etc. It was a 50% job, at most 70%.

If the commander doesn't give supplies or uav. I'll stab him.

Of my intentional TKs, 1/3 are commanders, 1/3 admins, 1/3 Morons. I'm not one to intentionally TK often, but once in a while it just has to be done... and it feels so rewarding afterwards:)

NO commander can multi task! its a simple as that.those that are doing it are noobs. You can not possibly scan the radar and point out, tell enemy positions to your squads when multi tasking. if you die thats 15 seconds to long where you could of been supply uav etc. No kill points are given to commanders so there is NO F***ING point of them going into the battle! I really really hate so called 'active' commanders bc it doesnt work!!!!! if they say they do it and that there a good commander then there talking out of there arse

NZDeathBoy - hey, i got TKed as Commander for 2 reasons

Reason 1 - Doing an `enemy spotted` spam fest, a guy TKed me couple of times and told me to shut up. After that I used more VOIP. Learnt that the hardway. Now I try to figure out how the team wants to be commanded, the mouseclick-command way, shutup way, VOIP way or a mix of all. Being a good commander is being a good butler sometimes.

Reason 2 - For doing too much arty on the carrier in Wake. A guy from the US team swtched teams, found me out and knifed me.

Man, people must really hate you. I only get mutiny votes against me, and I normally only get four votes - one from the person who started the vote, and three from people who always vote yes.

so your having a cry that the commander is doing the job at under %100, so you tk him making the his input %0.....mmmmm that doesnt sound to smart to me.

Really?

I guess I'm a noob then. A noob with stats that most likely blow your shit out of the water.

Pay attention to my win/loss.
AFFIRMATIVE!
People who can't do it theirselves shouldn't think nobody can multi-task. It is possible, and even without making your team suffer under it!
So every noob out there who believes commanders shouldn't fight and command simultaneously: believe what you want to believe. If you see me in a server as a commander I'll show you the impossible.
Dr_3V|L out.

Well show me because I have no problem with commanders that can multi-task but the servers that I've been on can't; it'd be nice to see on once in awhile. Even if you fly - it's respectful not to command, whether you can or not, it just gives your ...erm.. team a satisfaction; I know it can be done but out of conscience of other people them seeing a commander in a plane is creepy.  I don't care; Commanders are usually trying to find me to arty anyway-- both sides. As long as they put the UAV and Scan for people when I'm trying to cap then I am cool with that.

A while ago I was a sniper, racking up lots of kills.  I was about 23-5.  I ran out of ammo, so I created a squad and asked for a supply drop.  I must have asked 20 times and never got a supply drop.  It was near the end of the round, so I ran all the way to where the commander was sitting, and team killed him right before the game ended.  That way he didn't have time to punish me.

Did you ever maybe think that your commander doesn't speak the same language as you?
