I wont argue with that, after all we did elect W twice. However, I am the exeption.....and I still believe you are all fed anti-Us retoric. It's so popular these days, who isn't jumping on the bandwagon.
rawls - you practically imply it yourself. Our gripe is with the exact same person you have a gripe with: George W. Bush - NOT America.
But we have diferrent gripes. I beleive Bush failed miserably at selling the war to you guys and he let a dick head plan the war, but thats about it. IMO, the war is just. Bush bieng a moron couldn't make the world understand his reasons letting the global press run circles around him, painting him, and America, as an oil hungry warmongering evil giant. Last I checked we do pay for the oil, right?
The war is just ? ... please elaborate. Who benefits on the war in Iraq ? ... and who don't ?

Who is the friend in office controlling Afghanistan ?

Who is the puppet almost in control in Iraq ?

Selling the war to the Europeans, you seriously need to think before you open your mouth again - Bush practicly stated either you are with us or against us in the war on terror - looniest salestrick ever if you ask me.

Not really. All media is biased but if you think European press are fabricating anti-US stories on a continuous basis then you're having delusions. The likes of the insipid Rupert Murdoch and Silvio Berlusconi are as everpresent in our media as the former is in the US. We are just more discerning when it comes to who we listen to or what we read.
Americans are way more discerned than you give them credit for. Last time I checked the vast majority of the country is unhappy with both the President and Congress. There is a reason American (Print) papers are losing ground to the internet. One of them is we love variety. It hasn't always been that way, but it is definitely the trend now. In fact me posting this right now is evidence of my desire to hear the opinions of my European/Australian friends.
That's why you are special and dear to us Kmarion

But really come think of it - don't you guys have an amendment to overthrow the government if you are disgruntled ? ... that piece of paper signed by the founding fathers.

And like Cam said, we don't have an agenda with the US citizens, maybe some of them but in general we don't.
I guess it depends on your definition of overthrow. It's disturbing to think how far our government has gotten away from the ideas of our founding fathers. Times change and the argument of the progressives is that our ability to adapt has contributed to our prosperity. The problem facing Americans today is that we are willing to relinquish basic liberties with little challenge. I see this similarity in Venezuela also.

Shorter terms would be nice though.

I don't think we should necessarily mess with Venezuela, but if they ever end up as bad as Sudan, we might have to....

example of his failure to sell the war. Who benefits from an Iraq that will be self governed? hmmm...maybe the Iraqi people. Afganistan? Message to Afghani's don't support a group who kills three thousand humans or we will be forced to come in and kick your ass.
And this all has to do with the OP in the sense that anti-Us proganda has led to Chavez bieng able to open his mouth say what he wants and have the world listen, like he's telling the truth...pfft.

As a side note, I have to admit that I lost a lot of respect for Norway when I found out, per capita, they make more money off of the international arms trade than even we do.  It would appear Canada may be headed in the same direction.

It's like war has become ubiquitous to the point where even peaceful countries end up profitting from the death and destruction of the Third World.

There was nothing to sell rawls - Europeans never saw any semblance of justice in attacking and ravaging Iraq. None whatsoever - on a purely logical, non-emotive basis. The populace were quite content to let our troops help out with Afghanistan - the source of Al Qaeda - but could never ever in a bazillion years have been made to believe there was any decent reason for fucking with a sovereign nation that had never impinged on the west or threatened the west in its entire history.

You're right though - the gripes are different. For you guys it's Bush's domestic policy that's the problem and for us it's his foreign policy.

And the Americans buy them cause our weapons are even more hightech than yours

Remember we are just above 4,5 million people in this country and we have a gigantic industry on both hightech arms and the offshore sector compared to the size of the country and the population.

I'm quite sure any American plans for the assassination of Chavez don't involve CNN, they most likely involve covert C.I.A. activity or support of indigenous anti-Chavez terrorists/freedom fighters ...just like the last time they tried to get rid of him.

I'm sure your goods are high quality.  Norway seems like a very nice and highly skilled place.  It just saddens me that all this seems to come down to war though....   Even the most isolationist countries seem economically tied to war....

You're making a logical error here. Just because someone buys weapons, it does not necessarily mean that they are waging or intend to wage war with them. For defensive purposes, a country must arm itself to some degree.

True...  but we both know how the more dependent on weapons trade you become the less you care about who you sell to.

It's nice to see one Latino country standing up to the bull shit and looking for reform. Let's hope it comes at the right time and heads in the right direction.
Classic Scenario: Chavez is assassinated/dies/we, then some new Chavez comes in. The problem does not come from dictators but from the people who support them.

The Latino countries need to learn how to govern themselves, or else all they'll get are more Chavez's.
