BRITISH women prefer being online to having sex, according to a new survey.
In the poll of women's preferred leisure pursuits, one in five women said they favour being online over reading (18 per cent), socialising with friends (16 per cent) and watching TV (11 per cent).
And only seven per cent of respondents chose sex as their favourite pastime - on a par with listening to music.
The survey - by online gamer Zylom.com - also showed that 79 per cent of British women play games and puzzles online - overtaking men.
And over half of these women (56 per cent) play for more than eight hours a week compared to 43 per cent of British men.
Leading life coach and psychologist Dr Sally Ann Law said: “Men have never had a problem with using a PlayStation to let off steam and the study proves that now more and more women are using online games to de-stress and chill-out.
"Women feel empowered, they are able to channel various skills including leadership, puzzle-solving and hand-to-eye coordination in a controlled and relaxed atmosphere.”
