Your comments about The Smiths, plus the fact that you call the band 'The Blur', suggests to me that you are a poorly-educated rock novice . What you have just said could be considered blasphemy in many circles, and you could quite possibly find yourself crucified or hanging by dawn. There is abso-fucking-lutely no way that you can call 'The National' excellent, and then say that The Smiths are poor. Perhaps you're being confused by the recording quality, after all, The Smiths are before 'our time'- as far as contemporary bands go. But, one things for sure, is that any self-proclaimed 'indie' band or English-rock band will pretty much take musical tips straight from Morrissey and others in that vein of music.Zimmer wrote:
I just downloaded several artists from the ones that were suggested, just to give you a second opinion.
Well, you must get The National. They are absolutely excellent. I have to buy them as well, it seems that there is no decent quality download.
The Smiths are not very good. Poor actual music, their singing is average.
The Blur are quite nice to listen to, but I wouldn't call them rock, by any means.
I hope that helps you.
The Smiths aren't even categorically 'rock' anyway, I'm not sure why they were in this discussion in the first place...
So, to repeat my first recommendations: The Pixies, Modest Mouse (earlier stuff), Radiohead (early albums such as Pablo, Honey).
