Would you?
Not to trade with someone in a better situation with you...but to make someone else's life better/allow them to live.
If so, what situation would drive you to that decision?
I have my own thoughts...I will wait for some additional responses before weighing in.
My love for my wife and children would drive me to that decision. It is my duty to protect them and, if necessary, give up my life to allow them to live. I'd like to say I'd do it for someone else, but since it would leave my children fatherless and my wife without my support, I can't say I wouldn't hesitate. Another situation would be if I came upon a woman or child being attacked. But I don't think I'd have to give up my life because I'd have a good chance of coming out alive. For my country, if I needed to defend my homeland from foreign invaders, I would gladly serve and, if necessary, give up my life so the way of life I defended could continue. However, I prefer General Patton's stance on that issue.
