So I was reading some forums the other day on Rock Band. Someone said they wished they would release a Christian version of it, because that is the music he listens to. Immediately, he was bashed out of the forums. The sheer thought seemed to piss of most of the people that visited the forum. The average response was anything from "How dare you try to force your religion upon us" to "Why would you alienate 90% of the country by only putting YOUR music on the game." There were also lots of replies about how much Christian Music sucks, is crap, and is too slow to be any fun.

This whole thing aggravated me. The OP never said he was forcing anyone to do anything they didn't want to. He just said he wished they had the music he liked available to him to play.

Personally, I felt the response was ridiculous for the statement made, whether you like Christian music or not.

I am a Christian, and I enjoy games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero. I also pretty much only listen to Christian music. There are a number of reasons for that, but I won't get into THAT any further unless someone wants to know. The only time I listen to secular music is when I play these games. I am familiar with about half the songs, as I used to listen to everything. That doesn't ruin the songs I don't know. (In fact, my favorite GHII song to play is Less Talk More Rokk and I had never heard it, or the group that does it before.)

As far as the "All Christian Music is Crap" statements, I obviously don't agree. I don't think anyone else has to like it. I do, however, think people should try listening to some of it before they labeled it all as "crap." If you don't agree with it because it is Christian, fine. I would not, however, say all [Insert Secular Band Here] sucks, until I tried it though. I may choose not to listen to it due to message/content/etc, but I won't call it crap if it is actually good music.

Anyway, a few searches on here did not reveal any Christian Rock Band posts, so hopefully I am not rehashing something that already exists, in this, my First actual BF2s thread...

well, rock music can be good or bad nevermind where the artists come from or what religion they have. however, rock music always had this evil/bad/dark thing to it....i mean "sex drugs and rock'n'roll" sums it all up. therefore, the christian religion and rock dont seem to fit at first.......im a christian myself if that matters.

To be honest those people are just being petty. For me, as an atheist, I couldn't care less what type of music game anyone released as long as they weren't harming anybody.

Considering the fact I dont like rock band, and the fact I'm not a christian, it'd go from bad to even worse.  (don't care if other people make it though, of course)

I mean, HONESTLY... if you're going to spend hundreds of bucks and maybe even hundreds of hours pretending to be a rock star in a pretend rock band... why don't you go out and actually do the real thing?

Wouldn't try it and don't care if they make it. I've heard a lot of X-tian rock and (with the exception of that one Jars of Clay song) think it all blows dog balls, but so does country music and a lot of other types of music. It's your right to listen to the most god-awful, cacaphonous crap you want. Enjoy.

It would be for my anti-religious stance that I would not want such a game to exist. However, I would never advocate that we stop such a game, though. Fundamentally, it would be against the principles of freedom to do so. If someone wished to do so, by all means they are free to do so. To argue against the idea is petty, as CameronPoe has said. As much as I oppose religion, this is such a harmless idea that even I would not be motivated to even argue against it.

Christian metal != cool.

Anyone else remember these fools: [ur=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stryper]Stryper[/url]? Although, they did do a cool version of Winter Wonderland that I only heard once or twice.

I have a real problem with Christian music... not the quality of the music as some is quite good but more the holier than thou attitude of those listening to it.  I've had people say "I listen to Christian music only" or "this is a good song, a Christian band too!".  WTF does religion have to do with the quality of one's art?  Or is it that people think the "other" music is evil and will damn your soul to eternal darkness with fire and brimstone?

I grew up listening to the hardest most savage death metal when all my classmates where shouting "Twisted Sister and Motley Crue Forever!" and now I'm a Buddhist, a pacifist, and I still love metal and I love violent video games.  it doesn't mean I'm going out to raise the dark lord or mow down a high school with my uzi because I heard Ozzy say so by playing his music backwards.  It's fucking asinine the way the self righteous religious types need "there own special label" on things in order to feel accepted as a part of the church.  It's keeping up with the Jones's... Jesus style.  It's also a convenient way for Christians to get around their own moral viewpoints.  Christian game servers anyone?   Posers I say.

Rock is rock, regardless if you believe in God or not.  All you need to do is shred and I'm there.

As far as I'm concerned, the whole Christian rock thing is just another ploy by the right wing evangelicals in this country to make themselves appear more mainstream then they really are.  They know people think their nutjobs, so they try to make themselves appear like everyone else.  Truth is, now they're even weirder imo.

The Christian right vs. Everyone else is going to be the next big conflict in the USA in the next few decades.  Thats why we need more than two parties... there are plenty of conservatives who just shouldn't be in the same group as far right christians.

I wouldn't care, wouldn't buy it. They can make a DLC pack for it I guess, I wouldn't buy it probably. I'd prefer an RATM pack for Rock Band, or Guitar Hero.

Sucky bands say "god" and "jesus" just so they get a little more attention. It's kinda sad.

That is cool that you will listen for the quality of the music and not condemn it just because of the belief system of the artist. I do only listen to Christian music, but it has nothing to do with a holier than thou attitude, and it is unfortunate that so many Christians act that way. As I said before, my reasons are my own. You, my friends, or whoever can listen to whatever they want to, and it doesn't bother me. It doesn't even bother me to have it played around me. But as for what I enjoy, so far it falls into the Christian category.

I couldn't agree more.

If you guys learned how to play real guitar you wouldn't be stuck with only a few songs to "practice"

Uhhh, Christian Rock is not a conspiracy. It is just a place for crappy bands to get an audience.

Go to a Marine recruiting station and join the real Marines instead of playing CoD4.

I am learning real guitar. Guess what made me want to take it up? Guitar Hero. No, I didn't think I'd grab a real one and shred out perfect plays of Megadeth songs... but it inspired me to learn how to play guitar so one day I really can blast out some songs.
