I'm not a homophobe, but I don't consider it right for a kid to see two guys kissing in public. They don't understand those things.jord wrote:

Two men (or women) kissing in public is no more distracting than a man kissing a woman. Having sex in public or streaking are different things.jord wrote:

By saying that people shouldn't be 'gay' in public, you are imposing your own sense of morality on others.
Do kids come out of the womb with an understanding of sex, and what it means?sergeriver wrote:

How do you explain to a little kid that those two guys have the same relation than his mom and dad?SenorToenails wrote:

No, that's because it's not appropriate.SenorToenails wrote:

I guess I don't see the problem with explaining exactly that.sergeriver wrote:

And seeing a man and woman kiss is easier for a little kid to understand? Because that's what mommy and daddy do? That's not a very good reason.sergeriver wrote:

Holy thread necro, Batman!
Have to disagree there, Serge. I firmly believe love is a choice that you don't fall in or out of. My relationship with my wife is one I stay in compeletely by choice and I could end it at any moment. The first time I met my wife attraction started everything, but that didn't carry me along without any choice like a robot. I had to decide whether or not to pursue things past initial attraction to a relationship that grew into the choice to love her after months of interaction and building trust. The warm fuzzy feelings are nice, but they are a biproduct of the choice to love, not the other way around, imho. Who one has a relationship with, sexual or not, is completely a realm of choice. To say otherwise would mean we're complete slaves to our emotions to the level of animal instinct.sergeriver wrote:

Do you really and I mean really think that you choose who to fall in love with????
I´m stunned!!!!
The real question here it this: is attraction to the same sex or the opposite sex a choice? I say yes. I choose to be attracted to women because, for me, their soft skin and curves trumps what a man offers. I could choose to pursue a relationship with a man, but I chose not to because I want to enjoy a sexual relationship with a woman and have our own children as a result. A man could never please me as much my wife can sexually and another man cannot biologically give us our own children. Beyond that, my faith tells me having a sexual relationship with a man is wrong. Series of choices.
Edit:
Kids have plenty of time to learn about adult sexual choices later and parents do not appreciate adults with an inferiority complex insisting on displaying their "alternative lifestyle" in public. It's a matter of respect and acting appropriately in public. I don't want to see anyone making out in public whether they're gay, straight, or otherwise. Get a room.SenorToenails wrote:

You know I love ya stingray but it is a bit hypocritical for a faith that preaches tolerance, love and exceptance for all people, to be so judgemental, exclusive and oppressive to those that disagree with it.Stingray24 wrote:

Ah, but here's the kicker. Jesus specifically taught to love all people, but He did not tell us we have to agree with or endorse what is immoral behavior. I don't hate gay folks, far from it, but I'm not going to pull punches on what I believe. They're adults and they can do whatever they want. My favorite boss was a gay man and he was a great guy. All the gay people I have met have been nice, upstanding citizens and my disagreement with their choices in their sex life never comes up. But if they chose to flaunt it in front of my kids, there's where I have an issue. There are Christians who are judgemental and downright mean towards gay people and that is flat wrong. I see that as the people being wrong, not the teaching of the faith.

When you hear what some gay people have gone trough just cause they are gay I doubt its a personal choice.

No, attraction for the same sex or the opposite sex isn't a choice. I was attracted by my wife not because I made a choice there. It just happened. Then I decided to get married, that's choice.Stingray24 wrote:

Given the fact of what would happen to homosexuals in biblical times, and what countries like Iran still do to them, I hardly think these people would make a conscious choice to be that way. Also, there have been numerous cases of homosexual behavior found in animals. Do animals make a conscious decision to be gay?

lol
So your vote goes for genetic disorder? I'm 100% sure people aren't made that way by God, so therefore it HAS to be either a genetic disorder or a mental disorder. Choice would fall under mental disorder because if you choose t stuff your cock up another guys ass willingly then there is obviously something wrong with your head.chittydog wrote:
That's so stupid. If people were born with no sense of favoritism towards gender, homosexuality would be rampant and the population of the earth would be a fraction of the size it is now.Havok wrote:
It's a choice. I choose to be heterosexual. I was born with no sense of favoritism when dealing with sexuality. I was raised in a heterosexual family so it became the norm for me, especially because I never encountered any homosexuals until middle school. If I wanted to I could be homosexual. I would find it uncomfortable though, so I remain heterosexual.
Before voting, why don't you all go out and get to know a few gay people. A lot of them don't like being gay and would change if they could. Sure there are some who go both ways and some who are that way due to some psychological trauma, but the majority of them were born that way.
Lol, some still think it is a mental condition, or a choice, lol hahah. We're in the fucking 21st century, wakeup! Must be the same ones who think that the earth is flat haha. I'm hetero, and I have no problem whatsoever with anyone being gay. Life your life and have fun!
And yes, there are cases of homosexuality throughout nature, in the animal kingdom.

But as with most things in life that are important, it's best to be true to yourself, hence why those who have sexual feelings, straight or gay, act accordingly.
And btw, I don't see why I wouldn't want a child to see two men/women kiss or hold hands in public. I was raised in a catholic household, but I am not the religious type. And even if I was I would find it hard to press my religious views on my kids. Everyone should be free to make his/her own decisions in that regard.
I agree with you almost in everything you said. But the last part I must disagree. I'm not religious either, but I have a two months old kid. I know he doesn't understand things yet. But I don't want him, when he's, let's say 5 years old or so, to see two guys/women kissing each other in the street. Because I'd have to explain to him things I'd like to explain to him later.B.Schuss wrote:
