Well, I'd like to know if adding a graphic card will help me for sure for gameplay.

Together with my current system settings:

Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86 GHz
Ram: 0.98 GB
Hard-disk: 114 GB left
Graph card(current): NVIDIA Quadro FX 550 (128mb)
Sound card : SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC

Graphic card I'd like to switch with my current : EVGA GeForce 8800GT 512MB GDDR3, HDCP, PCI-Express 2.0, 2xDVI-I, 256bit

Will it be worth it for sure? (Do you think I'll be able to play Bf on medium graphics with out laggs?)

Many thanks,

With that you would be able to play with high, easily. However you should buy 2 gigs of ram. You need it desperately.

Well, but I think I can't upgrade ram anymore?

Thanks ...dreaming of high already

But does any one know if I could upgrade ram?

I'm sure you can...what's your motherboard? Is the PC a pre-built one like DELL?

pre-built? do you mean that  it's a standard computer? If yes, then it's not a pre-built one.

Uhm, motherboard, is that "Computer"? Then it's ACPI Multiprocessor PC

Thanks

I want to be 100% sure that I can upgrade my ram, because I ain't gonna spend money on something I can't use.

I'm puzzled trying to imagine what you mean when you insinuate it's "not a standard PC" and my best guess is that you have a laptop? In which case you absolutely can not use that particular graphics card and upgrading RAM will be a harder process.

Otherwise you're saying you're running a Mac and that doesn't agree with the "ACPI Multiprocessor PC" outcome.
And to be clear, no that is not your motherboard.

To find your motherboard through software, download CPU-Z. Unzip it and run the program and look at the mainboard tab. Should look like this. Tell us what it says in the "Motherboard" section.

Edit: And to answer your original question, yes that graphics card will help tremendously but learning a bit more about the innards of your computer will help us to figure out if you can and help you when you get inside.

That'd be a MicroATX Intel motherboard then!

*  Four 240-pin DDR2 SDRAM Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) sockets
    * Support for DDR2 800, DDR2 667, or DDR2 533 MHz DIMMs
    * Support for up to 8 GB of system memory
Yep, you can upgrade the memory

Motherboard info here.

Well done, that's a pretty standard mobo and you should be looking for DDR2 533, 667 or 800 RAM. The higher the number the better, but make sure it's one of those three. A good setup would be a Corsair or Crucial kit including 2 sticks of 1 GB modules, totaling 2 GB. There are more good brands and configurations and I've heart leetkyle is a good resource for intricate RAM knowledge?

The graphics card in your original post was a 8800 something or rather PCI Express 2.0, and I can not tell if that motherboard would be compatible with that card though it probably is.

I'd wait for a second opinion before buying anything though, someone else may have better insight in the compatibility because to the best of my knowledge most PCIe1 motherboards work with PCIe2 cards and some don't.

So this would do? DDR 2 1024mb 800mhz and the original Ram is 512 + 512

(this is Bf2s at its finest. props to those giving technical advice. sadly, I can't give any of my own, other than that the GFX card will do you very good, and the ram upgrade is essential as well)

It should work fine, vet. What is the RAM though? (can you link me to a page with it!) - I'll check out a Qualified Vendors Llist (QVL) to make sure it supports the board.

I suppose you mean the kind of Ram? I'll make an image of it trough CPU-Z?
I ain't that good at this computer technical stuff but I'm learning alot  thanks to you guys.

Mmm... thats quite old RAM you better get 2GB dual channel of new RAM... You can't mix DDR with DDR2 (newest, best, still cheap ) RAM.. I don't know if that motherboard supports dual channel but Kyle will tell you Im sure
If it supports dual channel you could go with this RAM: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … =MY-058-GL or something similar, it's really good and quite cheap.

well , I wasn't going to use a DDR Ram, I think I said DDR 2 1024mb 800mhz...
And it's a new computer, why would they put old ram in it?

Thanks for your conserning

That is DDR2 (PC4300 - remember you can even get PC2-3200 DDR2 memory), just slower DDR2. Virtually any DDR2 DIMMS will work in there.

5-600W - for an 8800GT!?!

The G92 GPUs have LOWER power requirements than the G80 GPUs. 600W would be good for running an SLI setup with those cards, but is complete overkill for a single 8800GT. 400W would be ample.

So, now please, your official answers are? ( I really want to be sure it'll support the rest of my system, so I wouldn't waste any money)

Graphic card: EVGA GeForce 8800GT 512MB GDDR3, HDCP, PCI-Express 2.0, 2xDVI-I, 256bit
Ram: DDR 2 1024mb 800mhz

Do you support it? (Especially Kylefs vote ! please.)

Really Many Many thanks to all of you!

(Thanks for last reply, I was already concerned about that post, cuz I didn't knew what to do with it )

Yup, should be ok. It'd be an idea to check you PSU, around 400W with about 19A across the 12V rails is what you need. The memory will be ok, but won't run at that speed so you might want to go for something slower (you have PC4300 and you're buying PC6400, which will work, but will be downclocked).

Have a look at it.

For that you need to open the computer up and look at the power ratings that are probably written on the side.
