I'm looking for a lightweight firewall to install on my new system and probably my old one as well. I've previously used Norton and will never go back and more recently i was using Zonealarm, though i found that to use far too many resources. Any ideas??

Thanks in advance

Get a router with a hardware firewall, can't get less system heavy than that, and they're a lot better.

Righto. Any thoughts on one. I'm currently using a Billion 7300 that was recommended to me by a friend who knows substantially more about routers then i. No real price range but the cheaper the better.

Ive never really known, can a router firewall replace a software solution? I know a proper Enterprise firewall is a hardware item that is 100x better than anything i have, but i was never sure about your standard Netgear (for example) one.

A port scan with my firewall (Kapersky) off, still came up full stealth. But i guess, a router firewall doesnt alert you to apps trying to connect to the net (or incoming) - and just blocks / allows silently (spose you can check log files).

Browsing for a couple of minutes i found this. Looks pretty promising:

PS, if you use windows firewall, you're an idiot.
