Why do people give their kids stupid names?

I was at some arts and crafts center, and this woman was calling for her child, "Dinga, come here now." "Dinga, lets go."

...

WHAT THE FUCK IS "DINGA." Did you SERIOUSLY name your kid "DINGA"?!??

I've heard some stupid names before, like "Chaos" and "Boat", both very stupid, but DINGA? That sounds like some kind of kitten playtoy or something. "Introducing, the new Dinga-Ball."

Your love life will be interesting:

Girl: "Hey baby, so, what's your name?"
You: "Boat"

I've heard that name before too. It must be from another culture, but there are some pretty stupid names out there. I know 2 people named Gaylord and one person named Gayther. I once saw a parent at a grocery store calling his kid "Popsicle".

The worst name I have come across to date was "Jizonia" (Pronounced Jizz On Ya). I kid you not.
I told a co-worker at the time "I wonder how she got her name? You just know her daddy told her momma 'That ain't my kid! I pulled out! I Jizz on ya, not in ya!!!' and then the mamma said 'Jizonia.... what a pretty name!'"
