I bought COD4 because of my clan basically. I had no interest in it whatsoever when it first came out. I can get I/O in BF2 and I still enjoy the game after over 1100 hours on it/2 years of playing.
Still I got it 2 days ago. To start with I hated it, I hated the way I could empty an entire clip at someone but because they were whatever rank they were they shot me with their uber 1337 upgraded gun. That was one thing thats actually stuck with me today aswell. Not being arrogant but clearly alot of people on there couldn't play BF2. On kill cam the amount of times I saw people just spray their whole clip at me as I passed only to hit me with 2 bullets right at the end made me laugh. On BF2 they wouldn't stand a prayer if I jumped and went prone. That said I diligently played about 2 hrs today, and was getting top score at the end of each round above and beyond the fully ranked up level 55's I was playing against.
I dunno, if you like the CSS styled game this might appeal to you, that said, CSS is a far more skilled game. COD4 is more for people who aren't very good at FPS. I personally don't like it because of the fact you can get killed by some noob who sprays at your for a 'lucky' shot. In BF2 I/O that just doesn't happen.
BF2 offers what COD4 offers, it's smoother in gameplay (if you've got the right PC) and far more skill based IMO, I/O in BF2 is both tactical and about accuracy, in COD4 that just doesn't happen. On SnD all you get is camping, deathmatch its running around like crazy fragging until your fragged. Airstrikes and Choppers are also another crap way of getting points, but hey you gotta get a 6 killstreak! Everyone can have their own views, just stating how I feel about it.
BF2 > COD4 by a long way. And BF2 has been around for a long time now which says something about its durability as a game.
