Back with another religion thread. This time, less personal opinion, more opinion of others who are smarter and who have done more research and science then me.

I start you off with #1, Penn & Teller, this is one of my favorite videos, because if you an intellegent listener you will learn well from this video:

They have 50 reasons why believing in god is a horrible mistake.

This should be more then enough proof that the bible cannot be taken seriously, you cannot pick and choose what you want to take literally from the bible, and with all the flaws and brutality of the bible pointed out, you should realize that basicaly every christian sins and every christian will be going to hell.

I agree. Although a lot of us have our gripes with religion we have to just let those who follow them be who they are. A lot of people in those religions also see many flaws themselves, but its more about being spiritual I think. When a person prays to their God, it gives them emotional strength that can guide them through hard times or what have you.

Not any religion is perfect because religion was a creation by man anyway. If Jesus himself laid out a religion and had guidelines I kind of wonder if that would be flawed also. But how do you define a flaw? Say, Jesus creates a perfect religion, but men still end up killing each other and they say its for their religion. Who's to blame? No matter what, its always human to blame.

So Mitch, don't hate on religions.

Nature is a powerful force. Those who seek to subdue nature, never do so permanently.

You'll never convert anyone religious because they rely on blind faith, they know there's no evidence so they just cover their ears and ignore all proof against their belief.

I'm an Atheist and I hate being preached to, so let them figure it out for themselves.

If they don't want to listen to reason, it's their choice - you shouldn't intrude on that.

Let me preface this by saying that for all intents and purposes Im an Atheist, BUT...

Jesus that made me sick. It really is very offensive to go around calling people's religious text's repulsive (unless the person is muslim, in which case its perfectly fine! /sarcasm), and to call their religious icons idiots. And don't get me wrong, Im not one of those types that doesn't get parody. I love parody, in fact it's one of my favourite forms of humour.

Besides, I thought the whole point of atheism was that we were fed up with people preaching down our throats?

And I'm not even going into refuting the arguments listed in the video (to sum it all up AFAIK the Church at around the time of Vatican II stated that the Old Testament was no longer relevant compared to the New Testament/should not be taken at explicit face value... I think).

Point is invalid arguments aside that video really is quite the stupid.

You hit the nail on the head. The weakness in Christianity is human weakness, not divine weakness. But you have to wonder, what's the point of religion of humans have no weakness? It seems like it's just something we have to accept about it, unfortunately....All we can do is try to be the best people we can be.
