crazy fool, HD resolution IS PC-monitor resolution. 720p is something around 1280x720

If it hasn't got a HDMI input or component inputs then no, and it also depends what graphics card you have.

I think you can play what they call "HD-Ready" (720p), but not "Full HD" (1080p).

Not sure though.

It all depends, I think some Blu-Ray drives and the Blu Ray disks themselves require HDCP which is an encryption system, I don't think you can use that over DVI. 8800GTS will be fine at processing the content.

Edit: Have a look here http://www.hometheaterpeople.com/tutorials/hdcp_dvi.asp

Attach player to your gfx card using a HDMI to DVI converter , gfx card connects to monitor via DVI.

I think that might work :S

lol  It is  a player for the PC how are you going to connect the player with HDMI.

Just install the player, how you would install a normal DVD player, and it will work.

actually both 1280x720 and 1920x1080 are considered HD

Right, but would you rather watch HD in 720 lines or 1080?

/me signs up for the latter.

yeah 1080 is better but honestly i don't think you'd notice much difference on a 20" monitor.

There wouldn't be much difference as a 1680 x 1050 monitor will only display the highest vertical resolution being 945. (Assuming wide screen HD-DVD)

1680 x 945 would be your 16/9 wides screen res.

So there would be some improvement, but not a full 1080P.

HD scaled down is still better than HD Ready scaled up

anything scaled on an LCD will suck pretty much.

HD pron ftl.

imo, if your going to buy an expensive ass blu ray drive, at least make sure that the monitor is sick as hell so that you can full enjoy it. Id go for 1920x1200.. my pops actually has a monitor like that, its pretty sick, really big though, hard to concentrate on things when you have to actually move your fucking head around...

8800+ monitor cloning?
