Each new MS/OS is more complicated than the last, and thus needs more time to sort out the bugs. As things stand now, XP is a more stable OS. The only reason to have Vista, in my opinion, is if you absolutely need DirectX 10 or if the OS came with your pre-built computer and you have no other option.

Let me know how you disable it when running games.

And thanks for reminding me about TopDesk!

I got Vista for free with XP..

Still haven't installed it, I see no reason to.

ive been usin vista for 5 months, and theres no static, "Bugs" the only things that have fucked with me is memory leaks in uTorrent and iTunes... which only occur after having my comp on over 50 hours

and then iTunes fucking up all my music, but thats iTunes fault, not windows

I just had to set up a network using XP and a Vista machine, and I was running back and forth... XP isnt great imo (compared to vista)

I have been running vista for almost a year now, and I have to say, I have grown quite fond of it. I have no problems with drivers or any bugs, the GUI is nice, and there are also those little things that you have to like about it like Flip 3d or random shortcuts like win+1 (opens first icon in quicklaunch).

The only real problem I can see with it is that you need more than 2GB of ram to be happy with it.

Exactly. Vista does so much more than you think - and I won't ever be taking a step back to XP! A Vista theme does not = vista.
