Bare with me, I am not a tech guy

I need help, I recently had a bug into my system and took to get fixed ... they did they job but they said I lost some files. 1 of the files is the software for my printer, not realizing this I sent a few documents to get printed and nothing

I checked and of course my computer does not show the printer, so I unplugged the usb and plugged it back in and instantly it recognized it and began to load the software and it got 75% done when ..... I got a warning window "The print spooler is not running"

I went to download the drivers off HP site and it goes through 75% and the same warning pops up

I went to XP help but all the list is to : 1 go to print, 2 click on the printer { I can't go the printer icon bc its not loaded into my computer}

appreciate any help ................. thanks

Try this - Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services - Print Spooler - Right click - Properties - Startup type enabled.

Tell me if that works.

If it is purely a problem with the print spooler service not running, this might help:

Go to start, run.  types 'services.msc' and press enter.

Find the print spooler in the list of services.

If the service is not started, you should have an option to start the service.  If it is stopped, double click it to see the properties screen.  See the startup type to Automatic.  Click okay.

Start the service and attempt the printer thing again.

Good luck.

after going over those steps - I press start in the service status and I get a warning : " Error 1068 The dependency service or group failed to start"
