I do listen to emo music. I like the style, and the taste of music it delivers. However, I am not an 'emo' person in anyway. I quite enjoy my life, I have no reason to hate it.
This goes for any type of music too. You can like country, but not dress with a straw hat and Wranglers. You can like jazz, but hate sunglasses.
I know the whole 'Cryan' and 'yer emo!' were just jokes, and I admit, they were funny, but did get on my nerves at times, but you shouldn't be judged by what music you listen to.
Emo music isn't the only type of music I listen to either. I like the classics, Pink Floyd, Johnny Cash, Metallica, and some modern rock.
