There might be torrents available of this DVD image, but I don't trust them, if you do you can hunt this down probably - on teh Internetz.

From Microsoft (Vista SP1): http://oem.microsoft.com/downloads/Vist … p0_dvd.img

If you enroll you can download this, else not. It's a bit of a pain in the arse (3-5 min.s), but you can just make some shit up, then download it.

____
Info:
1.) This RTM (Release To Manufacturing) build is the final build of Service Pack 1.
2.) It is more than a 1 Gig. file in size.
3.) It contains both 32bit and 64bit installations.
4.) If you're running Vista Home or Vista 64 Home Editions and have keep up with updates - you probably wont notice that anything happened other than you just went through a long install process (install, reboot, reboot... etc). It really addresses improvements in the Business & Ultimate Editions (32 & 64 bit) Vista. The Home Editions get very little or no real performance improvements, from what I've read & heard.

JUST the service pack... This is Vista service Pack 1 (final build), and it should just be available to everyone. Why does one have to jump through hoops to download it? Microsoft BS that's why.

PS: You'll probably have to use MS Internet Explorer to download it, I did (else this message while using Firefox "your browser is not supported.")

Because it's NOT available yet. Wikipedia says mid-march. I think this is just a special release for some people.

It's a beta - if you install, be prepared to have a lot of weird things happening on your comp.

No it's not a Beta... this is the OEM Final Build of SP1 - it's the Final Build. Anyways, I already un-installed the Beta SP1 to install this... thanx for your concern though (PS: I didn't have any issues with the Beta).

MS V.P. Blog: http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/windo … a-sp1.aspx
... With today's RTM of SP1, a number of processes kick off as we deliver the update to customers.  Our OEM partners will get SP1 and start producing new PCs running Windows Vista with SP1 pre-installed.

It's the RTM  version of it. If memory serves me right, there's a caveat: you have to re-format. Just wait until March when it comes on Windows Update in a nice, non-reformatting form

LOL... but no (where did you get that silly idea from?).

Anyways this is exactly the same thing (same Vista Service Pack 1) that is being made available later in March or whenever. This (above) and this: http://blogs.msdn.com/msdnsubscriptions … -week.aspx
... are just ways of getting it sooner. That's all.

Woo hoo! I can finally try out Vista now! I was holding out until the final SP came out. And luckily my extra harddrive arrived earlier this week Looks like my weekend just got a little busier. Can't wait to try out DX10 as well as finally putting my 4 gigs of RAM to use.

What the difference here is, is that this is the OEM version of the service pack, that doesn't make it a beta. OEM is made for system builders and can only be installed on a single pc (in the case of full windows installations that is), so they can ship it with their pc's. Not much difference though, OEM only hasn't got a fancy package. Imma download this

You have to lie, say you're like a company, and sign-up to Microsoft's partner program. Click-that --> [Enroll Now]

Then follow follow the instructions:
Enrolling is easy and takes about *fifteen minutes. Follow the steps below to enroll in the program. If you would like additional detail about the enrollment process, download the Step-by-Step Enrollment Guide.

   1. If you do not have a Windows Live ID, create one now.
   2. Sign in to the Partner Membership Center using a Windows Live ID.
   3. Follow the prompts throughout the enrollment process to:
          * Supply your organization's contact information.
          * Accept the Microsoft Partner Program legal agreement.
          * Complete your individual profile.
          * Complete your organization profile.
   4. Finish enrollment, and return to the Microsoft OEM Partner Center website.Your organization is now a member of the Microsoft Partner Program.

Have additional questions about the enrollment process? See the Step-by-Step Enrollment Guide.
*It only takes about 2-5 minutes to enroll.

I have the extracted, setup.exe and ???x64.exe (about 740mb) + ???x86.exe (about 440mb), stand alone installation files. They say RTM-OEM on the download but they aren't, they are the upgrade to SP1 installation files... and that is all. (To bad BF2s can't just host them, for ya'll).

What a hassle to get an update that'll be released in a month anyways, right?

Probably, but it's actually meant for companies with partner accounts anyway. So from that point of view it's quite logical. It's a hassle for us though
