I think that would have been intense to say the least.

A reoccurring joke from the other thread about that Airliner crashing in Heathrow a few months agousmarine wrote:

Looked like he was attempting a fairly standard crosswind landing, and had a sudden gust hit the aircraft right before touching down.Gooners wrote:
What the fuck was the pilot doing?
Trying to land in GALE FORCE winds, duh!Gooners wrote:

Well I would enjoy it, I think I'm turning into a thrill junkie these days. It shall be my demise, but at least it'll be fun.^*AlphA*^ wrote:
winds were really crazy here in Western Europe over the weekend indeed, (100km/h / 110km/h winds here) that looked kinda scary for the passangers tho, they would like be seeing the runway?
It appears to me he took out his crosswind correction way to abruptly.mikkel wrote:

I know. I have done many crosswind landings in gust conditions.Gawwad wrote:
Edit: @usmarine
There was a strong gust of wind right when the pilot aligned with the runway. The planes fuselage blocked the wind from the left wing while the right wing got the full force. Left wind had considerably less lift compared to the rigt wing and the plane tilted.
Whenever I've seen these things, the adjustment is usually done right around the same time as on that video. That bounce after the adjustment, probably either from hitting the ground too hard, or with too much air under the wings, looks like the real culprit.usmarine wrote:

No, I know all too well that it is. I wouldn't want them landing it anyways if they didn't think they could do it without fucking shit up. :SGawwad wrote:

Quick correction, pull up and try again.
Edit2: this is @ Poseidon then
It's standard procedure, the pilots know what they are doing.
If the winds are withing the given limits (as they were in this case) they will atempt to land.
It was within the limits for that plane.NantanCochise wrote:
Yep Ive also had a few dodgy experiences but this is rediculous, how did this aircraft even get clearence to land. The control tower knows about wind speed and direction. They obviously thought, what the heck, just let them land, they will be fine. Hope some heads roll!
