Right, i had Vista Ultimate x86 installed to test it out. But after a while i got bored of it and went to reinstall XP (Pro). Now note, before i had Vista i was reinstalling my XP regularly (about every 6 months) - so i know my hardware is compatible. It seems Vista has done something?
But after two days im yet to get through the install process. At first i was having a BSOD with pci.sys, but i managed to fix that by using a windows XP SP2 CD (before i was using SP1).
Now, when i go theough the setup i get to the EULA, press F8 (I Agree), and then choose where to install XP. I get a list of 4 "unrecognised disks", and when i hit enter i get a BSOD with "PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA" with refernce to "setupdd.sys.
Everywhere on the net points to bad ram or incorrect drivers. I have 4GB (4x1GB), 2x1GB of which i added since i got the pc - so i removed those. Still not working. Ive also pulled out one of the SATA drives (i have 2 x 250GB SATA drives). Nothing. Ive also downloaded SATA drivers from the Dell (*yuck*) website, and F6'ed them into the install. Still nothing (that gives me a difference BSOD).
Ive also reset the BIOS, removed the BIOS (cmos?) battery and updated to the BIOS. Still nothing.
What do i do?
