I'd consider looking at faster RAM (1066) as it is not that more expensive. Also, why the B Grade? A Grade isn't much more expensive!

Are you going to run vista or XP? If vista: add another extra 2gb ram.

I think I'll be running 64-bit XP, as I'm kinda sick of Vista now... Will probably move back to Vista eventually though...

sorry, you are ordering 2 x 2gb kit, I thought you were going to order 2gb. Yeah 4GB is just fine for vista. But why don't take 2 x 2GB? It allows you to upgrade to 6 or 8GB later on.

Only the PC8500 Reaper sticks use D9 IC's.

What about the ram I linked to above?

@Terror: I was under the impression that 4x1GB was better than 2x2GB? Also, the Ram I linked to above is only available in 1GB.

Yeah that stuff will be fine.

Why don't you go with DS3R or DS3R/C, they are all the same, and those are cheaper than the B-grade one you have chosen. I can, understand, if you are going to crossfire, but if you are planning on running 1 card, especially Nvidia - you won't be able to use the second PCI-E - just a thought...

I read the CPU goes to 3.5ghz with ease but then you have to put a lot more effort to get it higher than that.

That's what I've been reading as well.

But from 2.5GHz -> 3.5GHz is definately enough OC'ing for me.

You should also read my post above yours. Buy a Q6600 if you think 40% OC is enough for you. You are paying more for a Q9300 so why not actually get more?

The Q9300 is 45nm.  So it'll be more energy-efficient which is a good reason for my parents to let me upgrade, and it will hopefully dissipate less heat.  I'm sure with a bit of tweaking it can go higher.
