I need to do like 305380538 tests before I can do anything, apparently.

Theres some shooting range at Burke Mountain (if you know where that is) like 10 minutes from my house..

I've never been there, but whenever I go hiking or dirtbiking in the area I always hear gunshots..

Maybe its not a gun range, maybe they are shooting at you?

You cant just find a shooting range?

Most places here in Arizona have automatic weapons readily available for the range.
Aww fuck, now I want to move to AZ even more

as for the OP, it might be harder to do that stuff in Canada, doesnt Canada have some bad ass gun laws?

you dont need training?
really? cause up until now, every time i saw you post about firearms, it was some smart ass response.
so, you want to go to a range, with no concept of firearms safety and operation?

i dont envy the range master that has to deal with you.

A good shooting range will have classes/training of handling firearms. I recommend paying for a couple of classes.

Shooting ranges here (Netherlands) mostly suck anyway... most of them are 25 meters max. If you're lucky and rich maybe you could find a 50 meter one. Even then, you'd have to start off by firing small caliber pistols for like a year before getting to the good stuff. This just isn't worth it, imo. Army lets me shoot automatic rifles at 300 meters, and I get paid to do so. Civilian range I gotta pay shitloads of money to shoot .22 pistols at 10 meters. Screw that.

EDIT: I love my job.

Is there such a thing as a shooting range where civilians can go to fire some rounds off?

Since I plan on being a 3d weapon modeler, I'd like to personally know how guns work in general, how they shoot, and such.

I assume there are places like that in the US, but I think Canada is a lot more bitchy about firearms.

Anyone know?
wait, you "plan on being a 3d weapon modeler"????!?

So, you think you can make a living off of that? How many weapon modelers need there be?
Why not model anything, and call yourself a 3d modeler? Although you can purchase models online and find some free ones, and I am sure almost any weapon has been modeled already.

I am just not too sure where you are going with this?

Because you are not going to make any money doing it, nor will anyone likely use your models, so it is a waste of time.

There'll always be new games coming out, there isn't just one Ak47 model that all games use.

Ok but my point is, if he is going to be modeling for a game development company, he will model everything, not just weapons.

I love how 1/4th of you attack me for no reason.

1.  I don't see any smart-ass comments coming from me.
2.  I'm sorry for not spelling everything out for you, Jamiet. I plan to "specialize" in weapon modeling and design. Happy?
3.  Thank you to the people who actually try answering my question.

I'm all for training in the basic handling/safety in firearms. I play (non-outlaw) paintball, so I'm quite concerned myself about safety.
I just don't need to learn "the zen of shooting", or something like that.

(Those may be cops, but the weapons are rented from the gunclub, to civilians, for the range...  I fired an M240, M249, M16 and AK47 there)
I wish i had a club like that near my house
btw, i think this was featured on futureweapons
