If I met the artist, I'd shake his hand, tell him I thought it was tragic but brilliant, and ask him what he thought about the reaction it was getting.

as hes trying to hold his guts in, i would put a piece of paper underneath to catch any entrails.

then, just as hes starting to fade away, i would remind him of the artistic value of what im doing, and then he will go knowing that he helped......whatever it is that these fruitcakes get from this.

It is obvious that human life is more valuable than animal life. 

This guy is raising awareness for the wild dog problem or whatever, but the issue I take is that he is the one starving that dog.  When you take an animal captive, you need to care for it.  If the dog were left to be wild, at least it could try to take care of itself by scavenging.

Art is in the eye of the beholder, yes, but needlessly torturing a creature is just cruel.

I do. I have a rabbit, I have also had a dog, 3 cats, and numerous rats. I loved them all, especially my dog Maggie. I, personally, would never kill an animal for artistic purposes... except a fly or mosquito or something else... but... yeah, maybe I can't explain it entirely... but that's what makes art what it is. To each their own. I don't disagree with signing the petition. You all have the right to do it, and should stand up for what you believe, as I am right now. If this guy gets shut down, then that proves something awesome about the power of human unity and compassion.

Although... I would like to know the thoughts of someone who supports the War in Iraq (or any war for that matter), and is opposed to this.

OK, so a dog's life is worth more than Hitler's.  I would be hard pressed to disagree.  But, who would you save in the event of a fire?  Your best friend or your dog?  How about a coworker or your cat?

Wrong, read above. I have loved my pets and definitely love animals.

I won't give you shit. I love meat. It's great. I'm just pointing out a relatively common point about selective compassion that exists in nearly everyone, myself included.
