i think its under performing, but im not sure. here is some print screens:

Are these slower than they should be? i no my motherboard and cpu are ready for 1066MHz

What is your motherboard? That RAM is running at 800MHz (400x2). Look in your BIOS (might be under an overclocking category) - you can manually change your RAM speed there. There should just be an option "1066" or something like that..

its an asus m3n-ht...just been released. running a phenom so thats fully capable...and it says in the manual the board is too...im gonna have a look in the bios

Most likely you have to adjust the BIOS to match your ram, it is probably just defaulting to something other than what the RAM is supposed to be. Also check the RAM voltage and timings, and match them to the specs of the RAM, as it might be defaulted to something slower.

so i changed the bios to 1066. i dont really understand z-cpu, this is what the ram is capable of:

Crucial ballistix tracers pc2 - 8500C5
1066MHz
Memory Timings: CL=5
5-5-5-15 timings

Are they running at what they're capable of?

It's defaulting to the normal JEDEC timings. You'll gave to manually up the voltage and speed in your bios

edit: just saw your newest post. Up the voltage and drop the timings. Best just jot down the values from the EPP #2 column and manually enter them into the bios

To change the timings, use MemSet, but make sure your chipset is supported before you do anything.

Could you post the CPU tab from cpu-z as well?

I don't know if Phenoms do this, but AMD X2's with odd-numbered multipliers underclock RAM. For example, I have a 5200+ which has multi of x13, so I had to overclock the CPU frequency 17 Mhz to get my RAM to run at its rated speed. The RAM speeds are linked somehow to the CPU frequency, so overclocking a bit should help.

right now you're running at too high timings (i.e. slower) and probs your voltage is too low which can cause the PC to be unstable and crash/corrupt files/sell your soul to Satan

The ram speeds are linked to the mobo's bus speed. So is the cpu. They each have their own set of multipliers.

If you're worried, don't do it. The difference in performance between their defaults and what you'll get now are negligible, compared to say, what you'd get if you overclocked your cpu. In other words if you're gonna take the (miniscule) risk and do anything, do it right and overclock your cpu as well

EDIT: looking at cpu-z it looks fine. Go google orthos or prime95 for some whole system stress testing, but for just the memory memtest is fine
