When I drag a video from Fraps to the DivX converter it analyses it and says  "DivX Converter cannot encode the input file: (input file.avi) because it contains an invalid video stream"

I googl'd the problem and it said try Dr. Divx, which I did, and that said that Dr DivX couldn't use the file.

Solution?

Encode stuff properly?

Go to doom9.net and read, and read, and then read some more. Then you'll have a grasp of what to do to encode stuff properly.

Isn't DivX meant to just do all that anyway?

And you know how lazy some people are on this forum, isn't there something I could click or download which would be much easier.....?

That's the easiest way I approve of. Other stuff does it wrong.

DivX is just an encoding standard which falls under the umbrella of MPEG4 compression techniques. The stuff discussed on doom9 is not complicated, they don't go into custom MPEG4 profiles and start discussing redundancy for streaming over networks with a low QoS (typically achieved using reversible variable length packets and sync markers), or any hard stuff like that. They don't even mention BIFFS.

It is easy...

It's 22:09. I've been up since 6:30. Done an exam. Can't you just tell me what to do?
