Interesting quite useful for people that want the portability of a laptop but the customization of a pc. I could see myself getting one but I 'm guessing you would still have to use laptop graphics cards in them.

That's pretty cool! It's a market that is wide open for anything right now.

Wait hold on I read more into it your stuck with a 8600GT, you can just change the hard drive and memory. Thats pretty shitty you can do that on a normal laptop.

whats the point in getting a gaming laptop?

the market is wide open because nobody wants one.

if you want to play graphic intensive games, you get a pc.

True but it's nice to have a laptop to work on and take to the library etc. It's about bridging the gap I guess.

I never said anything about gaming. I meant the DIY market for laptops.

Asus has been making "barebone", DIY notebooks for years.

Still a very wide market though. Never knew about Asus though.

Yeah it is pretty wide open, they are the only company I know of that does that. That is how I got mine, bought it barebone, added my own cpu, mem, hard drive, cd drive. It runs like a champ!

Why do I get the feeling that the OCZ notebook is just a rebranded/repainted Asus C90.

Barebones aren't that new, Asus manufactures notebooks for a lot of different brands (I believe they made some Apple notebooks before), but part of their own line of notebooks includes their barebones which aren't really shed that much light. Hell, pretty much all Asus laptops aren't that known throughout in comparison to bigger names like Apple, HP, Sony, etc.

There is no point in getting a true gaming notebook IMO, but I like to think the term "gaming notebook" for something with a 8600 is a misnomer. It's more of a "notebook-capable-of-playing-modern-games-fairly-well."

Yeah one of the major weakpoints in the ASUS marketing is their lack of it...they do pretty good on mobos, but they make lots of different products, but it is very hard to find any information on most of them. If they worked harder on making their information more available, they could become a very highly ranked company.

I thought they just did mobo's and some graphics cards, most people regard them very highly as a mobo manufacturer.
