What things are there to do to workout abs and make them nice and tone? I do crunches and sit ups and stuff, but I don't think that's going to get rid of the small belly fat covering up the muscle.

When you do crunches/sit-ups make sure you're on an incline with your head lower than your feet. Add a weight to your chest and then try the sit-ups.

And these

Sit ups won't get rid of the belly fat, go for a run. Depending on how long you have been working them out, you may already have a 6 pack there but its hidden, start running and you will see it. Running also works out your stomach. This is the way I got my 8.

Laughing: I kid you not. Pick up some comedies, laugh your guts out. Some find it awkward to laugh, but it's for the greater good. I had these little "pre"-abs before even setting out in a workout room. It's been said that laughing burns calories, a little bit more help never hurt.

Food: I, in no way, have a body builder's diet. Pizza, steaks, eggs, nuked potatoes, sour gummy worms, cereal. No extra power things or substitutes. Water is my main beverage, soda on occasion. In between, I'll pick up something light, bread with jam, a candy piece, some chips.

Workout "plan": To work out my mini-abs (), I've been using my dad's workout room contraption. Looks can be deceiving, but it's yet to crunch me to death with its many metal parts. I've put a 5 lb weight on the hook, and use my legs to lift the weight. For me, it's the safest way.

If that's not for you, you can try sit ups. If it's the first time, see how many you can do without hurting yourself. Every workout after, add 10 more sit ups.

That's what works for me. Good luck.

pullups work really well, and they get a lot of other muscles at the same time

Swimming and hockey are great sports to take up if you really want to get your abs in shape. Especially Hockey.

For a quick fix, I'd say good ol' pushups and crunches.

Truth...every time I go to my basement to bring something upstairs from the pantry, I do at least 5 chin-ups. I've been doing it for about a month now and it's helping my biceps and my stomach muscles.

You need to get rid of the fat with cardio workouts.

Hit the heavy bag, run, bike, or do anything that gets you breathing hard and sweating.

Stop eating junk food.

I try not to eat a lot, but I feel like I'm always hungry. I'm gonna start running once I get some running shoes, but I haven't been able to get any.

If you starve yourself, you tend to eat more later, overcompensating. Munch on something not too costly fat-wise in between, you'll eat less during a meal. Example: I was hungry at around 3pm. We had pizza dinner at 9pm. I ate 5 large slices. Had I snacked on something in between, I wouldn't have eaten so much.

Excuses. No. 1 killer of the work out. Don't have running shoes? Go to a park and run. Shoes too heavy? Take em off or leave them on for some more resistance. I don't wear running shoes when I run.

Just remember to choose your shoes carefully they are extremely important i would suggest going to a specialised runners store with competent personal who can help you and tell you what shoes you should use.

Edit: @Adam what do you use? just curious and what surface are you running at? i could“nt imagine running lets say 10+km on tarmac with shitty shoes that would defintly kill my knees in a instant.

I don't want to ruin my feet, or joints for that matter. If I had a good pair of shoes I would definitely be running.

If you're young, it won't effect your joints, and will hold you off until you get some shoes.

@at madmurr I run 15ks at a park every weekend and 5ks at the same park everyday. All joints are perfect.

Butterfly Crunches:

1.  Lay down like you normally would for crunches
2.  When you left your upper body off the ground, have one of your elbows touch the knee on the opposite side of your body.  Repeat and alternate sides.

You will have a defined mid-section in a week.

Yes.  If you want to get rid of that last bit of fat, you'll need to eat healthy/diet and do some cardiovascular exercises like running.

Limit the red meat (steak, beef) and no more dessert.  Eat chicken, pork, eggs, vegetables, fruit, yogurt, whole wheat bread, etc.  Eat three meals a day.  Drink only water.  You could always use the food pyramid as a guide, I think it even has it's own .gov website.

It's hard to turn down a Tastykake or a bowl of ice cream, so just don't let it happen too often

Oh, eat whatever the hell you want when you do this.

Also, it'll burn.  A lot.

I don't even have access to most of that. I'll eat it on occasion. I can get yogurt, eggs, fruit, and vegetables. That's about it. I only eat meat like once a week. If I'm lucky...
