I find it surprising anyway that a member of the EU parliament, well paid already, would receive additional allowances for actually attending sessions and doing their fucking job.
I knew it was happening though, since the report is from german TV, and they had done a similar report a while ago.
What can I say ? If you give people the opportunity to cheat, they are going to cheat. That's just human nature.
my suggestion: grant them only a fixed salary, and maybe travel expenses, but deduct a certain amount off their paycheck for every session they miss. That'll teach them...
But that will never happen, of course, since they are making their own rules and regulations. Ironically, transparency is something that career politicians seem destined to avoid, even though they are very fast to demand it from the people they govern....
