Maybe you've been banned from voting, but I'm pretty sure the rest of us can...

The EU is becoming nothing but a shadowy bunch of plutocrats. This kind of behaviour from EU politicians exemplifies why we were right to be suspicious of the Lisbon treaty, they need to raise their game if they really want us to trust them in how they run European affairs.

How is that Lisbon treaty going anyway, have they just assumed that everyone has forgot about the whole Ireland "nuisance" and have continued to go on with the treaty or something?

Basically. It looks now as though they're trying to find a way to dump Ireland and force it through in the other member states where they don't have to contend with actual democratic procedure...this despite the fact that it was originally stated that ALL member states had to ratify the treaty in order for it to take effect. Sarkozy has even said Ireland need to have a second referendum...he must be reading from Robert Mugabe's "how to run a country" manual.

It's now called "the coalition of the willing" or something. Basically all those who said yes, (including my country because no referendum was held by these fucking cunts) will go on to adopt the treaty etc, while countries like Ireland and maybe the Czech Republic will stay out of it. Also, to make sure their fucking plan works, they now say that no new member will be allowed to join the EU without accepting the Treaty.

If they don't change their ways and take the people seriously I see the end of the Union coming real soon.

you seem to live in a different EU than I do..

anyways, time to put my name on that ballot, it seems...

I find it surprising anyway that a member of the EU parliament, well paid already, would receive additional allowances for actually attending sessions and doing their fucking job.

I knew it was happening though, since the report is from german TV, and they had done a similar report a while ago.
What can I say ? If you give people the opportunity to cheat, they are going to cheat. That's just human nature.

my suggestion: grant them only a fixed salary, and maybe travel expenses, but deduct a certain amount off their paycheck for every session they miss. That'll teach them...

But that will never happen, of course, since they are making their own rules and regulations. Ironically, transparency is something that career politicians seem destined to avoid, even though they are very fast to demand it from the people they govern....

I for one won't be sitting back while Europe turns into another version of Bush's United States of America.

Nice piss-take of our political establishment post Lisbon Treaty failure.

Cowen is our taoiseach (prime minister) and Martin, Lenihan, Roche and Dorgan are cabinet members.

Hey... cheating is not human nature, cheating is the nature of spineless bastards with no morals.
And we're are supposed to trust these cheats?...in Ireland we were being asked to sign away our right to referendum on matters affecting the Irish constitution and how it relates to European affairs. This just seems like "jobs for the boys" and a big fucking party for anyone lucky enough to get a seat at the table.
