What do you guys think?
I already everything else not listed. Also do you guys think the 8800GT can hold up for a while longer before needing upgraded?
There is no point getting an E8500, at all. It costs way more than an E8400, but delivers virtually the same performance at both stock and oc. .5 multiplier is not worth $60..Sup wrote:
Then I don't see the point getting a E8500, really.Naturn wrote:
Yes its the 512 version but i'm only wanting to overclock a little bit not a whole lot. Mabey 3.5Ghz ish?
What why not? I just want something that will last a while. I bought this AMD CPU because it was cheap and powerful. But, I want to go for something that will last a while..Sup wrote:

I agree, thats why I got a E8400 instead of E8500.Freezer7Pro wrote:

@Naturn-You get an E8500 if you want to OC to 4.5 not 3.5. Get an E2xxx C2D.
Not that I would normally question the great man that is sup, but may I ask why?.Sup wrote:
I'd avoid P45.

I thought that is what it would be.DeathUnlimited wrote:

1. If he is using an Nvidia card that doesnt really matter.
2. x8 x8 in CF on a P45 doesnt hit the same bottleneck that P35 chipsets do. X8 PCI 2.0 wont limit the current crop of graphics cards in terms of bandwith like x8 on PCI 1.1. As cards get quicker the extra bandwith availble on X38/48 will pay dividence but by then you would of probably moved onto a new mobo (what with Nehalm on the way and its new socket).
With that said though, I did see a crossfire benchmark with the ATi 4850 on a P45 which didnt look great.
Certainly anyone who buys an X38/48 board at the moment with the mind of running an Nvidia card is being a bit silly with there money imo. I see no need for it.

Because AMD owns ATI, not nvidiaNaturn wrote:
As I was just talking to death AMD is coming out with some new CPUs this fall including some revised K8 with higher clock speeds and larger cache.(Like 6400 X2 in 65nm process.) So i'm going to take a look at those as well. But what really bugs me though is the lack of nVidia chipsets for AMD.
sorry, but this was funny XDceslayer23 wrote:

Kind of childish don't you think? nVidia has made chipsets for their Phenom line up but I don't know when the next set is suppose to be released.ceslayer23 wrote:

If you're not buying for another 4 months, I would hold off even looking at stuff - I know, I know, I can never resist either - but, a lot can happen in 4 months.Naturn wrote:
I may end of going with AMD if they release their K10.5 but will we see. I'm hoping to upgrade around Oct. - Nov. time frame. Saving up some money.
I have 8800GT on X38 but will soon to upgrade to 2x4870 or an X2. I don't believe X2 will have two times 1 gig of RAM therefore I'll have to wait for 48701GBs. Upgradeable...Bell wrote:
