The fact it is possible to be used on a 8800 (the card was made before nvidia brought ageia) means that it must just be software, and it could be possible that somone makes modded drivers for ATi.Jenspm wrote:

Matuus, our in-house Guru3D NVHardpage programmer stumbled into the same issue I had as well. The NVIDIA PhysX driver once install will activate itself on the GPU, and can not be disabled.
Required: Windows Vista 32-bit, GeForce G80/G92/GT200 and NV PhysX drivers
This little NV PhysX Tweaker tool will allow you to actually choose to enable or disable the PhysX driver over the GPU and if preferred, the CPU. Very simple, yet very handy.

This new GeForce release, sourced by the guys @ TweakPC, is dated June 16 and comes with support for the GeForce 9800 GTX, GeForce GTX 260 and 280 graphics cards and the nForce 750a SLI and 780a SLI IGPs. Please note that you'll need the 8.06.12 (or above) PhysX driver installed too.
