Change the drive out, RMA the old one to the manufacturer (fuck Dell).

You could try putting in another HDD, it wouldn't hurt and it would be cheap to do. But if you want to get a new system, don't get that overpriced PC you linked to.

Building your own would be the best, but if you don't want to go that route, take a look at http://ibuypower.com/mall/lobby.htm . You can use their configurator to put together a machine that has what you want.

For example

Build one yourself: It's cheaper, you get better components and you'll learn how to build a computer wich you can use to help out friends/family out later on.

TRUST ME, having the ability to build computers is not as great a thing as you would think.  I get calls all the time from family members because I am the resident "geek" so they figure they can call me with whatever computer related question they want.  I don't mind helping people out but the people in my family bug me way too much.

@ OP If you want to build, you could keep that GT, and get another to SLI. Nehalem is coming out in 6+ months, but I doubt you'd want to wait that long. (Like me) Grab an E8400, 4 gigs of ram, and you'd be set. You could either sell that GT, and get a 48xx series, or sli em. 780i if you are planning on sli, X38 if you aren't.

That PSU is a bit overkill I think. And the parts you trew together are more like almost 3k than around 2k . I'm sure you could make that even cheaper by just swapping the 8800GT you have now into that, an not buy a new video card, since that will last you a while.  Also, you could do the same with the DVD drives

That case doesn't look to have the best cooling. If you're going to get 2 GTX 280s then get the "Nzxt Tempest Gaming Tower Case w/420W Power Supply   Black "

Out of the available cases that one seems to have the best airflow potential.

EDIT: Holy shit, did you just go through that list and select everything that was top of the line?! That PC is going to come out to $4,469(WTFz!). This system will be awesome, but damn, that is one hell of a price tag.

If you seriously are going to get this, I am extremely envious.

Lol I just ordered my new rig today. Everything off of newegg except my 780i, which just went out of fucking stock today. Just my luck.

I had bad/good luck when I was ordering. Ultra extreme just went out of stock so I had to "settle" with zalman 9700 but the memory and mobo got more expensive a day after i ordered.
